It’s always exciting for fans of the “X-Men” franchise when something new comes up about the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse”, as this installment has, so far, seen the biggest amounts of hype and attention from the public. Everyone seems to be keeping a close eye on the production too, as no detail that makes its way to the public goes unnoticed.
In a recent example, it has been revealed that the producers are in the process of casting actors for the roles of Cyclops and Jean Grey. This is an obvious confirmation that the two characters will be featured in the new film – although what’s not so obvious is who will get to play them. Since the new film will be set in the past – three decades back from our modern times, to be precise – the producers will have to look at younger actors for these particular roles.
Some rumors indicate that the studio is already in the final stages of the casting process, and they have nearly made their choice on both roles. According to reports from behind the scenes, three actors are currently competing for the role of Cyclops – Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet. On the other hand, we have Elle Fanning, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Haille Steinfeld as possible choices for Jean Grey, if the same rumors are to be trusted.
Without an official confirmation, there’s no way to know what the credibility of these rumors is – but at least they sound plausible, as all listed actors would certainly fill the roles in a spectacular fashion. Needless to say, fans have already been going crazy discussing the possibilities, after these rumors started spreading around – and who could blame them, when the casting choice for these roles is going to be a critical decision in the making of this film? It’s been shown in the past that even a well-written story can be broken by bad casting choices.
All actors have some experience playing roles that could be seen as relevant for their corresponding parts in “X-Men: Apocalypse”, so it’s hard to say who would do a better job. Obviously, most fans have their own favorites among each trio, although some have been trying to discuss the matter more objectively, bringing up their past roles as arguments, even pointing out personal traits of the actors themselves. The release of “X-Men: Apocalypse” is awaited with eager anticipation by millions of fans, and it’s expected that this installment will expand the reach of the franchise to an even broader audience, as well as look at the story from a new perspective that will give old-time fans something fresh to enjoy.
