Fallout 4 Patch 1.3 Now in Beta with Lots of Fixes and Improvements, New Features!

“Fallout 4” is one of the hotter topics on the gaming market at the moment, as gamers are still having lots of fun with the title and all it has to offer. Despite some minor issues, the game ended up very successful and players commended Bethesda for the quality work that they have invested in it. And now, while most people are waiting for any information about the first round of DLC, the studio has been hard at work fixing the various issues that still plague “Fallout 4”.

A new major patch for the game is now in beta, according to reports – players curious to test the changes should soon have an opportunity to get the update officially. Initial responses to the announced changelog have been very positive, with many players claiming that some of these updates should have actually been in the main game in the first place.

One of the most notable changes is the addition of a new interface for managing settlements. Settlement building was one of the new major features introduced in “Fallout 4”, and while many were impressed with the initial implementation, it also left a lot to be desired. The system was clumsy and not entirely intuitive, to the extent that many players claimed to have completely abandoned the idea and chose to focus on the main quest. The main issue for most was organizing the professions of the various setters under their command, and players came up with some rather creative solutions to that problem while waiting for Bethesda to do something.

The most commonly used solution was to assign various distinctive-looking pieces of clothing to the people of a settlement so that the player can tell them apart from a distance. Specific types of clothes were used to indicate professions, such as equipping a fedora on every settler assigned to work a food resource. Others made use of the crafting tools, creating custom weapons renamed with the names of professions at a workbench, and then handing them out to settlers.

Meanwhile, the mobile “Fallout”-themed game “Fallout Shelter” has had a nice menu for organizing assignments since it was released, further adding to the frustration of players. Players won’t have to go through all that trouble while watching mobile gamers have all the fun anymore though, as the new update has reportedly made things significantly more intuitive and streamlined. Some players still seem to have minor complaints with the system, but it sounds like modders now have a better ability to develop workarounds.

Other than that, the update also fixes various bugs with the gameplay and performance of “Fallout 4”, including some outstanding issues that have been plaguing players since the game was released. It sounds like it will be a much more flexible experience now, and “Fallout 4” is shaping up to be a fantastic entry into the franchise, even more than players initially gave it credit for. With the right kinds of additions through DLC, it can easily be made perfect at this point.

One positive trend in this update is that Bethesda are paying a lot more attention to what their customers want right now, and they have obviously been listening closely to what people have to say about the state of the game. The issue with organizing settlements has been a hot one for some time already, and people were starting to get worried that Bethesda are just waiting for the community to fix the problem for them, as has happened at various points in the past.
