Elio Motors Seek to Alter the Course of US Transportation when Revolutionary Three-Wheel Vehicle Rolls Out in the Fourth Quarter of 2016!

Independent American carmaker Elio Motors is determined to alter the course of US transportation when its revolutionary and groundbreaking three-wheel vehicle finally rolls out in the fourth quarter of this year.

It is very clear in the company’s mission statement that Elio Motors wants to provide American motorists with a fun-to-drive, super economical personal transportation alternative that is affordable, safe, and environmentally-friendly.

The vehicle is simply called as Elio. With its 84 miles per gallon fuel efficiency, it will be an ultra high mileage two-seater that shall come with a very affordable base price of only $6,800, describes the company website.

Since opening reservations for the three-wheeler sometime last year, Elio Motors has received 48,886 pre-orders to this date and it seems that the figure would increase further as the official unveiling of the Elio draws near.

An automotive brilliance

The Elio is a brainchild of the Elio Motors founder and CEO Paul Elio, an automotive enthusiast himself, who sized up the prevailing status quo of personal transportation several years ago.

Elio saw the rising costs of the vehicles that Americans drive and also noted the fuel prices spike to record highs almost daily. He also observed that Americans were struggling with the economy that was taking too much and giving back too little.

So he decided right there and then that the world, particularly the Americans, was ready for something new. The result of his forward thinking is the three-wheeled masterpiece, which is a reflection of automotive brilliance that bears his name, details Start Engine.

Elio is expected to be a stand-alone solution for today’s generation of drivers. It is the answer to a need for a more efficient and practical form of transportation because people still need to get around. The vehicle provides that new route in ways that have never been so different, so sexy, so fun, so practical, and so smart.

A car for everyone

Early last month, Elio Motors publicly came out to state that it is looking to build as many as 25 prototypes of its ground-breaking three-wheeler vehicle prior to production.

Apparently, the 25 engineering and test vehicles will be used to conduct a variety of final engineering and validation tests that will allow the company to make final adjustments prior to mass production.

In order to produce the 25 vehicle prototypes, Elio Motors has made a formal public stock offering to make its shares available to interested public to generate $25 million.

After receiving qualification from the Securities and Exchange Commission of its offering statement under Regulation A+, the company launched its formal stock offering on November 20.

Thus far, Elio Motors has already developed five prototypes which it named as P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5. It’s no use making the nomenclature of prototypes complicated, the company probably deduced.

The company has put on display all its prototypes in various motor shows, with the latest being the P5, which was showcased during the LA Auto Show late in November.

The independent American carmaker is positioning its groundbreaking three-wheel vehicle as a car for everyone. It also promises the next big thing in transportation with its innovative vehicle, which is set to go into mass production later this year at its manufacturing facility located at Caddo Parish in Louisiana, using a portion of the former GM Shreveport Operations plant.

Elio Motors

The company is still accepting reservation at its website with the assurance to early bird buyers that they will get their unit within the first year of production, ahead of the rest.

Elio Motors has also stated that the right people have already been hired to design and build the car.

For a small and very affordably-priced vehicle, most consumers would logically expect that the three-wheeler would have limited tech features, especially in its interiors.

  1. It will be no popular (if it ever makes it to production) than the Messerschmitt 3 wheeler from the 1950’s.
