Season 3 of the adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” is still more than a year from its premiere date on Adult Swim but speculations about its possible plotlines already abound on the internet which only proves how popular and widely-followed the show is.
Series co-creator Dan Harmond, in a recent interview, said that he and Justin Roiland are planning to revisit stuff from the past seasons of “Rick and Morty” which fans and viewers took to mean that some characters will be coming back in Season 3.
High among the speculations is the possible triumphant return of the Evil Morty, who shall reportedly become the big bad for Season 3, reports the Christian Today.
Fans and critics believe that bringing back Evil Morty for Season 3 will be an exciting change of tack because the last time that the character was shown was when he joined a throng of Rick-less Mortys being taken away by enormous space ships.
Evil Morty was also seen shedding his distinctive eye-patch, which was revealed to be a transmitter, to blend in.
Return of a fan-favorite character
In addition to Evil Morty, Justin Roiland also confirmed that another fan-favorite character Mr. Meeseeks would also make his return in Season 3 of “Rick and Morty.”
In a recent interview, Roiland said that he has made a personal promise to himself to make the character’s return possible in Season 3.
The tall humanoid character will once again return to make life easier for the person who brought him.
Harmon, on the other hand, revealed recently that Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” would not dwell much on the aftermath of Rick’s run-in with the Galactic Federation. He said that he does not think that anybody wants to do a third season that simply spends a whole bunch of episodes dealing with a situation that they have created at the end of Season 2.
‘Rick and Morty’ mobile game app
To sort of quench fan thirst while enduring the long wait for Season 3 of “Rick and Morty,” Adult Swim Games has released the mobile game app “Pocket Mortys” on January 13 that transmogrifies Rick and Morty into a Pokemon game both for Android and iOS mobile devices, reports iDigital Times.
The player needs to steer Rick around the Citadel of Ricks and portal-connected dimensions, in pursuit of loose Mortys, to forcefully microchip and add to the gamer’s growing army of child combatants.
So far, “Pocket Mortys” has been getting a rapturous reception on Twitter and a five-star score in the iOS App Store.
It is almost sure that fans and viewers of “Rick and Morty,” the TV series, will be hooked to the mobile game too.
However, critics believe that it is unlikely for the TV series to have a similar Pokemon parody episode as in the “Pocket Mortys.”
But one element of “Pocket Mortys” that might emerge on the show is the expanded variety of dimensional-variant Ricks and Mortys. While most alt-dimension universe Ricks and Mortys seen in episodes of Rick and Morty still look like Rick and Morty, “Pocket Mortys” stretches the boundaries of dimensional variety.
Beyond such element, it seems unlikely that any other item from “Pocket Mortys” will be adapted on Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” because the game actually does not do much to expand on the mythology of the TV series.
Meanwhile, fans of the TV series had the opportunity to see a “Rick and Morty” Christmas Special when creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, showed a spontaneous episode of “Rick and Morty” live in Cinefamily on December 11 at Los Angeles during the Animation Breakdown 2015 event last month.
The featured “Rick and Morty” footage was not a past episode from the past two seasons but an improvised one. It was nothing like any episode shown before, nor was it an advance episode of the upcoming Season 3, which was why some actually referred to it as “Rick and Morty” episode 2.5.
Justin Roiland made use of a Cintiq tablet and accompanied it with improvised insanity as well as a live drawing that ensured high energy madness during the event.
