It’s been a while since fans of “Pretty Little Liars” got to see their favorite characters, and judging by the sheer volume of discussions about the show that we’ve seen lately, quite many people were excited for its return. And now that it’s back, it seems like the quality of the very first episode of the new season far surpassed the expectations of most fans.
A lot has happened since the last season, and there are various changes to some of the characters already. Things have been brought up to a more mature level for the most part, with every character now digging deeper into their lives and working on their own issues. Speaking of issues, the writers have apparently decided to throw even more difficulties into the mix as they have made things considerably more challenging for some of our favorite characters, especially Emily. But then again, one of the main points of this show is overcoming difficult situations, so it only makes sense that we would see more of the same.
On the other hand, some things have also been kept unchanged, particularly important plot points that fans were most likely strongly attached to. Above all, the attitudes of the different characters have been preserved for the most part, and this if course means more of the same funny exchanges that we saw so frequently over the seasons so far. In fact, it looks like some of them have been given even more original lines that hit hard exactly where they should, and this season should be exciting to watch even for the dialog alone.
Some fans were worried that things could get boring now that the identity of “A” is out in the open, but this doesn’t have to be the sole attracting factor of the show, after all. It’s true that it was an important part of the plot and it made fans very excited while the story was developing, but there are plenty of other opportunities to make people follow every episode with a keen interest, and the producers of “Pretty Little Liars” know this very well.
In fact, there are already hints of new developments coming up, but knowing the way this show is structured, we don’t know how many of those hints are actually genuine and which ones are red herrings that the fans are misinterpreting. It wouldn’t be the first time fans of “Pretty Little Liars” have latched on to a theory that turns out to be false, and the constant speculation about the identity of “A” is a gold mine of examples for that.
Fans have been questioning certain plot developments, such as the fact that Ali is now in a teaching position, but in the end there is likely a plausible explanation which will be addressed sooner or later. Given the fact that Ali will continue to have a central part in the plot, it’s pretty much guaranteed that we will see her story expanded additionally.
The girls seemed excited to be back together, and they of course spent a lot of time chatting and catching up with each other’s lives, not to mention taking lots of selfies. It seems like things are okay for the characters for the time being, but of course it’s easy to see everything through rose-tinted glasses in the very first episode of the show. If the past seasons are to be indicative of anything, things will get heated in no time.
