There are only going to be a few companies that put their time in when it comes to releasing the best virtual reality system on the market. Billions of dollars are being spent on acquiring the technology to bring virtual reality into your living room and at a price that you can actually afford. The Consumer Electronics Show this month was filled with all sorts of VR equipment from companies and the consumers were soaking up every drop of it.
One of those companies that brought some virtual reality gadgets was HTC. The brand new HTC Vive Pre was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show and it was something that many would expect based on the promises that the company issued months ago. Online reviewers were describing the gadget as “frightening, astounding, real” and that is going to bode well for sales when it is time to get the wallet out. HTC might have the best grasp on something that consumers can actually afford.
In teasing the new virtual reality hardware, there is a video that was showcasing the first game that is available for the unit. That video showed the biggest hint that Portal 3 might be released very soon and for the HTC Vive Pre. Basically, the video showed a number of things that hint at the new game, but mainly a lady that is floating in mid-air with her back to the viewer. A white vest and orange jumpsuit can be seen on her and she is still for the first few seconds.
Then, she raises her arms and blasts through a wall while the walls next to her are bending away from her. The character in the video is clearly recognizable and fans are not going to miss it. The group of Portal fans that do not think this is a teaser for Portal 3 is going to be small. The company behind the development of the Portal series of games is Vavle. To further the rumor along, people from that company have been working closely to help with the development of the HTC Vive Pre hardware.
That is not likely a coincidence at this point in the game. Online sources that are reporting on the brand new virtual reality software and hardware that is in development are also pointing out the same thing in the video teaser for the HTC Vive Pre. Other hardware that is on the market already, includes the Oculus Rift, which is the most widely known since Facebook paid more than $2 billion for it a year ago or more. The head mounted displays are going to be coming from just about any and all companies in the electronics business as they know the amount of money it will bring in over the next few years.
