Executive producer Jon Bonkenkamp of the American crime drama TV series “The Blacklist” has confirmed that lead actress Megan Boone is now infanticipating with her first child with artist-boyfriend Dan Estabrook.
As Boone, plays the role of series protagonist Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen in the TV series, the show is left with no choice but to integrate her pregnancy into the storyline in a case of art imitating life instead of the other way around.
According to Bonkenkamp, Boone’s pregnancy will be written into the series when it resumes after its winter hiatus on January 7, 2016 on NBC, notes the International Business Times of UK.
Apparently, the showrunner has a way into how it is going to be done since it could be recalled that before Liz Keen went on the run with Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, played by James Spader, she had slept with former husband Tom Keen, played by Ryan Eggold.
Thus, the baby that Liz will be carrying on “The Blacklist” would probably be that of her former husband.
However, in a recent interview, Bonkenkamp said that they are still trying to figure it out because it plays in a number of different ways, both story wise and physically.
The creator added that they are also threading on it very carefully as it would eventually have an impact on the future of “The Blacklist.” He explained that the dynamics of Liz and Red prevents him from incorporating a pregnancy storyline because their relationship is of a parental nature more than anything else.
What fans should expect in the Season 3 second half
During the fall finale of “The Blacklist,” Liz was finally captured by FBI agent Donald Ressler. The latest teaser and trailer of the TV series shows Liz behind the big glass box that used to hold Red.
NBC has also released the synopsis for the midseason premiere of “The Blacklist” in a two-part episode titled “The Director.”
Based on the hints of Jon Bonkenkamp, the triumvirate of Red, Aram, and Samar will seem to take bold measures to rescue Liz from her current predicament in a very intense midseason premiere episode.
Bonkenkamp explained that as much as it was a victory for the FBI task force to capture Liz, it also put her in even greater danger so Red and company will be racing against the clock to implement whatever plan that he is looking to do.
The showrunner said that “The Blacklist” Season 3 still has eight episodes remaining, but he assured fans that everything will fall together and it is going to be fun, notes the International Business Times of India.
A great plan in the works
Bonkenkamp also confirmed that Red has a great strategy and plan to save Liz. He said that he and the production team have been laying these breadcrumbs over the past eight episodes, but everything will be tied up together before the Season 3 finale.
Interestingly, Samar will join Red and Aram in saving Liz. Samar has her motives too because she got kicked off by Ressler from the team. And Red will use her for back-channelling purposes to be able to get into Liz.
It is expected that when Liz is broken free from her current detention, she and Red and the supportive members of the FBI, will help her get to The Cabal, and eventually absolved her from killing the Attorney General, who is a member of the criminal organization.
Episode 8 of “The Blacklist” titled “Kings of the Highway” wrapped up the plot or Liz being on the run from the FBI.
Meanwhile, Red has been collecting information about The Director and still has hopes of convincing The Cabal to leave Liz alone.
For his part, Tom seems to have convinced Karakurt to talk to the FBI and clear Liz’s name, though Red says he has other ideas on how they can use Karakurt.
Yay, Megan Boone and Ryan Eggold’s babies.
