It’s already been confirmed that the fourth season of “Vikings” is going to come with some serious changes, and the show could deviate from its original idea quite significantly. Because of this, fans have been worried that the new episodes could take the show in the wrong direction and we might see it changed forever in a way that doesn’t match what it was supposed to be about. However, the showrunners are apparently confident that the new episodes are going to be strong enough, and that the absence of Ragnar is not going to have a negative impact on the way things work in the future.
Ragnar was already the main focus of the show so it would be strange to see the new episodes without him, but it’s certainly not impossible that it might work out. It’s just important that the producers find enough auxiliary topics to develop in more detail, and there are certainly plenty of those available in the setting of “Vikings” from what we’ve seen so far.
Bjorn has already evolved quite a bit throughout the series and we’ve seen him turn into a great warrior, someone worthy of taking the place of his father. Some fans have been a bit skeptical of this transition, claiming that this might introduce some negative changes to the overall layout of the characters, but we are confident that the producers know what they are doing.
Fans are currently mostly focused on discussing the trailer for the upcoming season, as they don’t really have much else to go by anyway. The trailer already showed quite a lot about the future of the show and it made it clear that we’re going to see some exciting changes down the line, but it left enough unsaid that fans have had a lot to speculate about.
Some fans have been digging really deep in that trailer, dissecting elements from it such as various lines that were spoken and other similar moments, but we’re not so sure if the producers really were planning to hide so many hints throughout the trailer or if that was just the result of fans looking for things that aren’t there.
It does look like Bjorn is taking his role as the king very seriously now though, for good or bad – but it seems as if the character could face some opposition for his newfound power. There are indeed quite a lot of people who would have an interest in seeing him taken down, and the fourth season of the show could turn out to be a really violent bloodbath between Bjorn and other characters. Also, the way that Bjorn seems to have quickly adapted to his new role in the throne could tick some characters the wrong way, from what it seems, and the son of Ragnar might find it a good idea to watch his back through the new season. It would be interesting to see if there will be an ongoing plot related to his struggle for maintaining power.
Ragnar did seem to have a strong presence in the trailer though, so as long as the character is still on the show, he is going to be worth watching for his old fans. After that, fans of the show will quickly have to get used to the idea that he is no longer around, but we have no doubt that the producers of the show have planned the fourth season in a way that will very easily let them forget about the character and move on into the new season.
