After the latest trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” was officially released last week, talks have been going around on how The Dark Knight would cope up with it especially when the clip showed Superman unmasking the Caped Crusader and revealing Bruce Wayne underneath.
The unmasking actually follows a scene where some Superman soldiers are taking their customary bow to the Man of Steel as he proceeds to the imprisoned Batman.
It turns out that the footage was just a nightmare by Bruce Wayne because he was actually afraid of what Superman will do to the world. The revelation was made by film’s costume designer Michael Wilkinson, details Cinema Blend.
According to Wilkinson, Director Zack Snyder had a great idea of the nightmarish vision, almost a vision of the future or a post-apocalyptic vision.
He said that it is like a dream that Bruce Wayne had featuring a Mad Max version of the end of the world. So Batman was trying to survive but Superman and his minions were preventing him from doing so. But it is Bruce’s own nightmare and not actually part of their much-talked-about fight scene.
Wilkinson also added that in the film, Superman will continue to be a figure of hope, a positive thing. But his motivations and the consequences of his actions are the ones being questioned by the world and Batman, notes Comic Book Resources.
So the question is whether Superman is a hero or a dangerous alien, which becomes the obsession for Bruce Wayne. He really wanted to find out for himself that he dreamt of it and it was what was shown in the latest trailer, reveals Wilkinson.
Fuelling the excitement for the movie
The latest full trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” was shown on December 2 during “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that further fuelled fan excitement in the widely-anticipated movie, which some critics believe is to become 2016’s first official blockbuster film.
A teaser of the trailer was released a few days before during a break in the American superhero drama TV series “Gotham” on Fox.
It came as a welcome surprise to fans of “Gotham” because they all know that the Caped Crusader is never shown in the TV series and features mostly his backstory and the people he dealt with in his good old city. So when they suddenly saw Batman on the teaser, they somehow saw the connection right away of “Gotham” and the upcoming movie “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
