Miley Cyrus and Rock Band Flaming Lips Cover a Beatles Classic at House of Blues

Miley Cyrus is the gift that keeps on giving this Holiday season. The 23-year-old singer performed with veteran rock band Flaming Lips at the House of Blues on December 6 and it was a great performance considering the generation gap between the band and the singer.

Cyrus and Flaming Lips did a rendition of the Beatles’ classic song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”

This is just the most recent collaboration between the former Disney star and the American rock band. Flaming Lips had a huge contribution on Miley’s latest album titled “Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz.”

Cyrus and the group also did a trippy short film titled “Blonde SuperFreak Steals the Magic Brain.”

Coyne says that a lot of things that Cyrus and the band worked together ended up being on the “Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz” album.

Elton John is one self-confessed fan of Miley’s recent collaboration. In a recent interview, the legendary singer was all praises for the “Wrecking Ball” singer, saying that her idea to do a record with Flaming Lips is nothing short of brilliant.

However, some reports suggested that tension is brewing between the two performers, but New York Times objects and states that the collaboration of the singer and the psychedelic band closed a generation gap.

Also, Miley had formed a great friendship with the band especially the frontman, Wayne Coyne so that further closes the generation gap.

Speaking to New York Times, the 54-year-old Flaming Lips lead singer says that the reason his band and Cyrus probably get along well is because they’re already so old and Miley is so young that they reach a certain demographic of an audience and meet at the back.

Coyne first met Cyrus some two to three years ago and was initially unsure of how their music, let alone they as performers, will work well together.

Speaking to Billboard, the singer-songwriter admits that Miley was probably influencing them more than they’ll be able to influence her because her endless energy sure did give a lot of benefits to the Flaming Lips.

Currently, the band is promoting the 20th anniversary remastered edition of “Clouds Taste Metallic,” an album released in 1991 when Miley was just two years old.

Miley is currently on a limited-run tour in support of her fifth studio album. The “Milky Milky Milk Tour” started in November and will end this month.

Always one to make an impression, “The Last Song” actress debuted her multicolored braids on Instagram on December 5.

In the photo shared to her 32.2 million followers, the “Fly on the Wall” singer sported her new hairdo along while wearing a form-fitting pink T-shirt with a dark blue camouflage pattern.

The former child star accessorized her look with a pair of large earrings and gemstone stickers around her eye. She also had a smiley face sticker in the middle of her forehead.

“Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz” was released for free online streaming on SoundCloud on August 30 when Miley announced it during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. It is a follow-up to 2013’s “Bangerz.”

Music videos for the songs “Dooo It!” and “Lighter” have already been released while the “Can’t Be Tamed” singer performed “Karen Don’t Be Sad” and “Twinkle Song” as host and musical guest during an episode of Saturday Night Live.

Meanwhile, the “Adore You” songstress recently performed her version of the Christmas song “Silent Night” and it just goes to prove how talented she is.

Her holiday performance was shot as part of Netflix’s “A Very Murray Christmas” starring Bill Murray and directed by Sofia Coppola.

Cyrus’ cover of the classic Christmas song was done without any frills or wild antics, a far cry from Miley’s usual performances.
