The National Football League (NFL) has yet to make an announcement on who would be the Superbowl 2016 halftime performer in February next year, but the internet is already abuzz with rumors that it is going to be Jennifer Lopez.
The speculations about J-Lo performing on Superbowl 2016 began when she once again proved herself as a top caliber performer during the recently-concluded American Music Awards, which according to viewers and critics, she nailed it big time, notes Bustle.
Fans believe that the “Booty” singer’s performance on Superbowl halftime is long overdue following the success of American pop stars in one of the biggest center stage events in the US.
Beyonce thrilled fans and owned the stage during the Superbowl 2013 before Bruno Mars gave his all the following year. In February this year, Katy Perry practically lit the stage in “Firework” and had the audience “Roar” with her at the Superbowl 2015.
The rumors about J-Lo’s Superbowl 2016 halftime performance also grew louder when a video was posted on Twitter recently showing the Superbowl trophy and some background noise of “Jenny from the Block.” The tweet has been deleted since. But the way the rumors have set the internet ablaze, can no longer be undone. And so is the fan excitement that it generated.
In fact, some fans are saying that just the rumors alone that J-Lo will be the star performer at the Superbowl 2016 halftime already gives them palpitations of joy.
It seems that the cat got out of the bag rather early and it can no longer be contained. However, since the NFL has yet to come out with an official statement about Jennifer Lopez taking the center stage at the Superbowl 2016, all information should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Dinner date with beau
Jennifer Lopez was spotted having a dinner date at Madeos in L.A. on December 1 with boyfriend Casper Smart, who was carrying a big Hermes shopping bag.
It is not clear if the bag was something that the pair bought prior to dinner or they got it from someone else as a present.
The 27-year-old dancer was seen carrying the Hermes bag as he and his 46-year-old girlfriend stepped out of Madeos, reports the Daily Mail.
J-Lo wore a figure-hugging black frock and she complemented it with black high heels and pointed toes. She also had her hair cascading around her shoulders while wearing a shimmering eye make-up. Casper also was in all-black ensemble and showed off his nice and well-toned physique.
A product of the rumor mills
Amid recent rumors that they have gotten back together following the recent split of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner after 10 years of marriage, Jennifer Lopez and the “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” actor are not a couple again.
It is very unlikely that they will be a couple again soon or even in the not-so-distant future. For one, J-Lo appears to be singing beautiful music together with his 27-year-old boyfriend Casper Smart.
And for the other, the “American Idol” judge has just recently opened up to a British tabloid how she felt devastated when Ben Affleck called off their public engagement and wedding in 2004.

They have been a couple following their movie together “Gigli” shown in 2002 which did not do well at the box-office. After a couple of years of dating, they planned a fairy tale wedding and also included a lot of kids in the plan.
Unfortunately, that did not happen. Since then she has hated being branded as part of “Bennifer.” Three days after her high-profile split with Ben Affleck, Marc Anthony came to her like a knight in shining armor, which proved to be an inappropriate time to fall in love for her. It turns out later that her eventual marriage to Marc Anthony was also doomed to fail.
