About ten years ago, Valve released one of the most popular, technologically innovative sci-fi first person shooters of all time. It featured hardcore science fiction, socio-political issues, monsters, aliens, guns and bullets and headcrabs – basically everything balanced into a perfect video game.
All of these made Half-Life 2, the golden boy of PC gaming. This is one series that has surely maintained a perfect fan following over the years. Valve remains silent, and gamers keep heavily pining for a sequel. Where is Half-Life 3? Where is the most anticipated sequel of all time in gaming history?
While confirmed news on Half-Life 3 is non-existent, a lot of rumors are surfacing on the internet by the day, claiming that the game has surely been confirmed. These rumors indicate that it is only a matter of time before Valve officially confirms it themselves. Gabe Newell has kept mum regarding any official release of the game.
We are all aware that any news of an official release from Valve will make gamers dash to the nearest computer. Earlier, on May 23, Christian Post confirmed that Minh Le, a former Valve employee noticed artworks for the next Half Life game along with various artworks for Left 4 Dead 3. The co-creator of Counter Strike also revealed that Half Life 3 is under development, but he has no idea when it will finally release.
However, he might have also seen an outdated artwork right before he left Valve. Valve’s silence regarding Half-Life 3 does not come as a surprise as the developers have been showing consistent signs that they have no interest of developing yet another sequel to this awesome shooting franchise. However, fans should not lose their hope as Newell stated in his interview about valuing the demands of players for a new game.
As a result, we can still hope for a sequel. The Valve founder stated, “We’ve essentially crowd-sourced supervision of a lot of these decisions to our customers, and it works way better than almost any other system we could design.” He added that the developers acknowledge their ‘rabid’ and highly passionate fans.
However, latest news indicates that The Crowbar Collective is currently working on Black Mesa, which is the original remake of Half Life as most people seem to think. It started out as a couple of fans developing this remake in their spare time. However, presently it has taken the shape of a full-blown remake, to be distributed through Steam.
It will certainly be a huge move by Valve, who until now had no involvement with the unofficial release of Black Mesa. Getting a complete Steam release, means that Black Mesa can be considered to be the official Half-Life 3 unlike the Half-Life Source disappointment witnessed back in 2004.
WE WANT HALF LIFE 3 !!!!!!!!! :(
