Episode 8 of Season 2 of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” will air on December 1 and shall be the penultimate episode before the fall finale of the show to air a week later.
Officially titled “Legends of Today,” it is actually a special episode of “The Flash” because it is to be the crossover episode with the American superhero drama TV series “Arrow” also on The CW network.
What would be very interesting on the upcoming episode of “The Flash” is that Harrison Wells, played by Tom Cavanagh, will develop a serum to make Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, run faster.
However, Wells will have the Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick, played by Teddy Sears, for a guinea pig as he will test the serum first on him before giving it to Barry Allen, details the International Business Times of UK.
It could be recalled that Jay Garrick from Earth 2 arrived in Central City at the start of Season 2 following his defeat at the hands of Zoom.
Getting his powers back
According to reports, the next episode shall also see the return of the powers of Jay Garrick. In a recent interview, Sears said that his character will be summoned to the S.T.A.R. Labs in an urgent matter from Wells.
It turns out that Wells wanted him at the S.T.A.R. Labs because he wanted to make him his guinea pig for an experiment to make speedsters run even faster.
He said that Wells wanted to try it on to him because Barry needed all the help he can get to fight and defeat Zoom. Initially, Jay would have second-thoughts about it but there will be some life-threatening moments before getting to a safe conclusion and force him to agree.
In addition to becoming faster as a result of the serum, there are rumors that Barry Allen will discover a brand new superpower in the fall finale of the TV series airing on December 8.
Love life takes a backseat
Noticeably, while Barry gets stronger because of his commitment and dedication to rid the Central City of criminal elements, his love life, on the other hand, is taking a turn for the worse, cites Design and Trend.
But it seems that Barry will finally have a romantic partner possibly with Patty Spivot, played by Shantel Van Santen, because of their blossoming romance.
In addition to Grant Gustin and Teddy Sears, the other cast of characters of “The Flash” for Season 2 are Candice Patton as Iris West, Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, Daniel Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West.
The newcomers include Violett Beane as the female speedster Jesse Quick, Demore Barnes as Tokamak, and “Candyman” actor Tony Todd as the voice of the show’s big bad Zoom.
The first time meeting between Barry Allen and Jay Garrick was very short. However, Garrick made some running on S.T.A.R. Labs’ treadmill on Season 2. He arrived in Central City to warn Barry Allen and Team Flash of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.
In a recent interview, showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said that they find it exciting to bring the Crimson Comet into life, referring to Jay Garrick. He added that they could not imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy Sears.
Those who are familiar with The Flash comic books know that Jay has been at the whole Flash game longer than Barry Allen is. Jay Garrick as Flash first appeared in Flash Comics #1 way back in 1940, and he has since appeared in comics on and off.
As viewers eventually learned, Jay Garrick’s Flash costume is typically the reverent Flash style, with homage to the cover of The Flash #123, which came out in 1961 that also introduced the DC Multiverse.
Meanwhile, Season 2 of “The Flash” will not be having a crossover of some sort to the horror flick “The Candyman” shown in 1992.
But the actor who deliciously portrayed the role of “The Candyman,” Tony Todd, is now being featured in Season 2 of “The Flash” as he takes on the big bad villain named Zoom.
