Season 21 of the American dance competition reality show “Dancing with the Stars” had its finale on November 24 where Bindi Irwin and her partner Derek Hough were crowned as champions. But there is another thing that stuck to the minds of viewers and it was the super infectious pop song “Boys Like You.”
The pop song was brought to life in a highly energetic and flirty performance by Who is Fancy in collaboration with Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor, notes MTV.
While fans may have thought that the collaboration of the trio was super random, the three singers actually go way back.
Who is Fancy served as the front act for Ariana’s recent Honeymoon Tour while he met Meghan Trainor when she was still 19 years old at Nashville, Tennessee.
In a recent interview, Meghan Trainor said that she was quite excited when Who is Fancy came to her and offered to do a song together. She said that she does not usually cut songs that she does not write, but she claims that the writing skills of Who is Fancy are too good.
Trainor said that all of her songwriting friends got to see her achieve her dreams this past year so it was also kind of amazing for her to see one of her friends’ dream come true and also getting the opportunity to be a part of it.
Who is Fancy said that she was so nervous upon meeting Ariana Grande for the first time. He said that he felt surreal when he and Ariana got into a room and started singing together in one mic.
The pop singer, managed by Scooter Braun, said that he felt that he blacked out because he does not remember anything he was saying at that time. He said that Ariana is the real deal. He also has high praises for Meghan Trainor and he finds the amount of talent between the two lady pop singers quite insane.
Writing for Ariana
In a related news, Charlie Puth disclosed that he is currently writing a song for Ariana Grande, after his successful collaboration with Meghan Trainor in the song titled “Marvin Gaye.”
In a recent interview, Charlie said that he plans to hunker down writing for other artists who are working on their albums including Ariana Grande.
He did not disclose any details about that collaboration, but Puth said that a lot of interesting things are coming together, indicating that he will not just be collaborating with the “Focus” singer but possibly other music A-listers too, notes Billboard.
The “One Last Ride” singer also debunks rumors that he and Meghan Trainor are dating following their mega makeout at the American Music Awards 2015, which he claimed as totally planned.
Charlie said that his PDA with Meghan was just a visual representation of their song “Marvin Gaye” because they want to make a record that people could fall in love with the minute they hear it.
He also said that Ariana Grande chose to dance to “Focus” wearing a ‘20s ritzy scenario with everyone wearing white because that was visually what she saw. Puth said that it is a matter of taste.
Special accomplishment
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande has just achieved a special accomplishment that no other recording artist has done so far. She is the first singer to debut in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 song chart with the debut single from each of her first three albums.
Billboard Magazine calls it an unprecedented Hot 100 feat and it was a fitting accomplishment for Ariana Grande who has kept her focus on her music ever since she broke into the industry back in 2013 with her first album titled “Yours Truly.”
