Rick Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, and Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic, are officially back together as a couple in the American crime drama TV series “Castle” on ABC. And so are the millions of fans of the show.
The reunion of ‘Caskett’ actually started on episode 7 titled “The Last Seduction” which aired on November 16 after both Rick and Kate agree to take time out from their relationship time out.
But it was during the winter finale episode of “Castle” that aired on November 23 titled “Mr. and Mrs. Castle” that the two started working together again as a couple. They also shared a ‘Love Boat’ experience in time for the celebration of their second wedding anniversary.
Their being on the cruise ship was not planned actually but was part of their work to investigate the murder of the vessel’s entertainer.
During the winter finale episode, Castle and Beckett went to check out the boat. While they were investigating, the ship sets sail that stranded the two of them at sea, details the International Business Times.
While waiting for a smaller boat to come and take them to shore, Castle investigates the victim’s dance troupe and pretended to be a rich passenger guest of the cruise ship.
He claimed that he came there early to get a head start with rehearsal and soon he was doing his best jazz hand routine across the stage with the other dancers. But then, he was supposed to catch one of the dancers for a lift that sure drew a good amount of laughs from viewers.
There have been speculations going around that Rick and Kate may eventually consider having a baby following their reunion as some fans saw a conception imagery during the couple’s love scene.
But showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter say that there are no plans for a baby for ‘Caskett.’ The two however admitted that the issue was discussed at the start of Season 8 but they have not thought about it thus far.
Seeing Beckett pregnant will be a deviation from her character which they describe as a boots on the ground, kicking ass, and taking names. Although they admit that the plot is not off the table, but they are still thinking if it would be helpful to the show’s storytelling moving forward, notes TV Line.
The two series creators are obviously worried about further experimenting with the TV series after they decided to split Rick and Kate during the second episode of Season 8 of the show that resulted to the backlash of fans getting turned off from the TV series and abandoning it.
Winning back viewers
When asked if they are planning to win back some disenfranchised viewers of “Castle” to nudge the ratings of the TV series back up, Hawley and Winter say that what the show has are healthy numbers for network television these days.
They say that they intend to win back the viewers, especially those in the 18 to 49 years old age demographics by telling really good stories in the subsequent episodes of “Castle” that would make people want to watch the TV series.
The TV series will be back on ABC for the second half of Season 8 on January 4, 2016 with its ninth episode titled “Tone Death,” instead of a February air date as previously reported.
The reason for the change in schedule in the show’s second half is not clear but it seems likely that the network does not want to keep the fans hanging on what will happen to the relationship of Rick and Kate after they have gotten back together again.

The show runners said that they were going to “shake things up” in season. They also recognized that the success of the show was due, to a great extent, to the romance of the main couple. So, how did anyone apparently well informed and cognizant of the show’s success factors screw up so badly? After all, the basic Bracken/LokSat case could have been shown more acceptable to the fans by having Caskett handle the case stealthily from the very start. The character Vitram would not have been needed at all. (I do think that in the end he may be found to be tied to LokSat as a member of the organization and whose job is to keep the higher ups in LokSat informed on progress in the case.)
Because the new show runners not think straight. They probably think if they cane backward RC and KB to Season 4, then rebuild these 2 characters in different way, they can win the fame that old show runner screws up entire show and the are the winner.
Unfortunately, they are completely wrong. I just wonder any or many fans starting calling ABC firing them.
