Season 7 of the American supernatural drama TV series “The Vampire Diaries” on The CW is already seven episodes down, with two more before it takes its customary winter break but Ian Somerhalder, who plays the role of Damon Salvatore in the show, revealed that fans should really look forward to seeing episode 10.
As it is, episode 10 will be aired when “The Vampire Diaries” returns from its mid-season break sometime in February next year.
According to Ian Somerhalder, the perceived huge departure from the typical formula of the show after the exit of Nina Dobrev would be felt by the viewers on the upcoming tenth episode, which he says is the best in the current season, notes Australia Network News.
Incidentally, the 10th and best episode of “The Vampire Diaries” is all about Damon Salvatore, so it would be interesting to know if Somerhalder’s co-stars also share the same opinion about it as being the best in Season 7.
Somerhalder shared in a recent interview that it is going to be a Civil War episode and during the filming, he was all covered up in dirt and gunpowder with things blowing up around him. He also said that he lost six pounds during the filming of that particular episode.
He also made it clear that it was the best episode not because it is his character that is to be featured on it but because the way the story was put together, the wardrobe, and everything were all on point. He added that it was also well-executed.
The actor, in another interview, also revealed that the filming of episode 10 of Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” almost killed him and he said that he was just thankful for his wife Nikki Reed, who took care of him during the filming of that particular episode.
He said that viewers will find the episode quite phenomenal because it shall go back to the time when Damon became Damon.
Shutting down Julian’s plan
Meanwhile, episode 8 of “The Vampire Diaries” will air on December 3 after a one-week airing break and will feature Julian and Lily, played by Todd Lasance and Annie Wershing, respectively, hosting a party to celebrate the anniversary of Mary Louise and Nora, played by Teressa Liane and Scarlett Byrne, respectively.
Officially titled “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” the party will not go well with the evil plan of Julian as Damon and Stefan, played by Paul Wesley, will step in and shut it down.
Lily will have to intervene in the conflict between Julian and her two sons to avoid putting more people and vampires in danger, cites the Christian Post.
It will also be in the same episode where Caroline, played by Candice Accola, will found out that Stefan is the father of Valerie’s child and will start questioning her relationship with Stefan. Valerie Tulle is being played in the series by Elizabeth Blackmore.
Focus on the love triangle
Avid fans of “The Vampire Diaries” were elated when Season 7 of the show premiered on The CW on October 8 and seeing Stefan Salvatore and Caroline Forbes making a go of their too-long-in-the-making relationship.
However, right on the second episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” Steroline was already shot in the foot as it featured a future scene where Caroline was seen engaged to someone else other than Stefan.
The second episode of Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” actually featured a three-year time jump. It was quite clear that Caroline was not engaged to Stefan at all because she was pretty annoyed by the mere mention of his name. She was even quoted as saying to her assistant that if Stefan calls back, he should be told that Caroline is not there because she does not want to hear the name of Stefan Salvatore again.
