Tony and Ziva have reunited shortly and off-cam that is. “NCIS” director Dennis Smith recently shared a photo on Twitter alongside former on-screen lovers Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo.
Although this could be a sign of de Pablo returning to the crime procedural drama TV series as Ziva David, fans may have to wait a little longer for that to happen.
The photo shows Cote, Michael, and Dennis all chummy in a selfie. Weatherly gamely retweeted the photo and even mentioned that he had a super fun time on their mini-reunion.
Apparently, Cote was in Los Angeles last week to promote her new film “The 33.” The film is about the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped for 69 days underground in 2010. De Pablo plays Jessica Vega, a wife of a trapped miner Alex Vega, played by Mario Casas.
Upon seeing the photo, fans of Michael and Cote instantly hoped that Ziva would be making her return to “NCIS” and would reunite with Anthony ‘Tony’ DiNozzo. But sorry to disappoint them, Ziva’s comeback to the TV series is not yet in the works.
Earlier this fall, “NCIS” showrunner Gary Glasberg said that there have been no plans to bring back Ziva on the 13th season. The 36-year-old actress portrayed the agent from Season 3 until her departure in Season 11.
Ziva and Tony had a relationship throughout most parts of the show’s past seasons and broke up when Ziva decided to stay in Israel and be away for good from Tony.
The long-running CBS drama did bring one of DiNozzo’s girlfriends in the series after Ziva’s departure. Last episode, Tony, who was sent to Sudan along with Sean Murray’s Timothy McGee where he had the chance to meet again his ex-girlfriend Jeanne Benoit, played by Lea Thompson, for some rescue mission.
Thompson appeared on the hit crime drama way back in Season 4 and have reunited with Tony when an insurgent attack in south Sudan affected a group of volunteer doctors. Benoit’s husband was apparently among the medical personnel in trouble.
One doctor and two others went missing after the attack and McGee was sent over to Sudan to investigate the joint murder and kidnapping case.
Meanwhile, the upcoming episode of the crime procedural drama TV series focuses on a problem regarding a petty officer as well as the marriage of Ellie and Jake hitting the rocks.
According to International Business Times, episode 9 titled “A Day In Court” will feature a petty officer seeking help from the team to clear his name after his murder case is dismissed due to mishandled evidence.
Judging by the episode’s preview, the officer has also volunteered to be court-martialed, in the hopes that the team can look into his case. He honestly believes that his move will prove that he did his job properly and that he is not responsible for any mishandled evidence.
In the trailer, the gang seemed surprised with the officer’s move, but it sure worked as they investigate anyway. Mark Harmon’s Agent Gibbs is seen leading the investigation and interrogating people.
Meanwhile, another highlight of the episode is Ellie, played by Emily Wickersham, her husband Jake, played by Jamie Bamber, and their crumbling relationship.
Glasberg has already stated that things will continue to go downward for the married couple this season. In the past episode, Bishop was seen having an intense argument with her husband over the phone.
Sally Richardson-Whitfield also returns as attorney Carrie Clark. Reports suggest that Ellie will be talking to her about divorce options with Jake.
According to spoilers, the latest episode will serve as the turning point for Ellie and will lead to her decision to take some time off from her marriage, pack her bags, and spend Thanksgiving back in Oklahoma.
There’s no word yet if Jake will follow his wife to Oklahoma, but Gibbs surprisingly tags along Ellie on her way to her hometown. Apparently, he’s trying to deviate himself away from things that remind him of the shooting incident during the Season 12 finale.
