“NBA 2K16” came out recently, and the game has been enjoying a lot of attention from the gaming community. People are generally very impressed with the state of the gameplay and graphics, and the various improvements that made it into this title did not go unnoticed. Of course, it didn’t come out in a perfectly flawless condition, as there were some minor bugs that had to be addressed.
As a whole though, the game has been received very well by fans of the franchise and everyone agrees that it did a nice job pushing the series forward and evolving the already highly addictive gameplay. 2K also took some minor risks with this release and they have been paying off rather well, adding a lot to the game’s quality and improving the overall presentation.
Currently, the studio is putting the finishing touches on the third major patch for the game, which will come with various improvements to the balance, particularly with regards to blocks. This has been a controversial issue in the community since the day the game launched, and it’s good to see that 2K are paying attention and putting work into fixing the situation.
According to reports, the next patch is already done and has been submitted for certification, and this will take a couple of weeks. So fans should probably get ready to receive the update very soon, and they should start preparing for the new balance changes.
Although that might be a bit more difficult than it sounds, as we don’t have any detailed information about the changes coming with the next patch right now. There are some minor rumors around the community, but for the most part we only know about the rebalancing of the blocking gameplay with certainty.
Meanwhile, 2K have also reportedly started working on “NBA 2K17”, the next installment in the franchise. Some fans responded in a critical way to this announcement, worried that this could interfere with the studio’s ability to provide post-release support for the current title, but it’s quite obvious – at least for now – that 2K have no plans to drop their support for the game anytime soon.
Plus, given the franchise’s annual release cycle, it’s probably a good idea to start laying the foundations for the next installment as early as possible to make sure that the team will have enough time to polish the game properly. On top of that, 2K should also have plenty of information from their community about the quality of the gameplay of the current title, and they probably already have some ideas about how they can improve the game for the next edition.
From what we’ve heard from official reports, the concurrent development of both games could actually be beneficial to the franchise as a whole. The team is already using “NBA 2K16” as a platform for testing some of their ideas for the next game, but it will likely take a while before we hear more details about that.
And of course, we expect that there will be lots if locker codes released throughout the year in order to maintain a high level of interest in the game. 2K have a very good idea with this feature and they have been relying on it very heavily for the last few installments, so it’s probably safe to assume that the new game will follow that path as well. It’s a feature that players certainly love.
