Filming for the Vikings Season 3 has wrapped up. The crew was filming in County Wicklow, which is now over. Filming for Viking Season 3 commenced in June this year and the season is entering post-production in Toronto.
Vikings has caught a lot of attention since it started airing on The History Channel. The series has picked up quite a fan base over the previous two seasons. There was much excitement among the fans when Viking Season 3 was announced by The History Channel for another ten episodes. Although there has been no additional news since the production has stopped, the hype hasn’t died down.
Vikings Season 3 will start will Ragnar Lothbrok setting out to attack Paris, along with his war-hungry family. The series stars Travis Fimmel in the leading role of Ragnar Lothbrok, along with Katheryn Winnick, George Blagden and Clive Standen. Viking Season 3 has to live up to a lot of hype, given the immense popularity enjoyed by the previous seasons. Keeping this in mind, creator Michael Hirst made everything bigger, better and more bloody.
There is CGI involved in the sequence surrounding Paris and every major action sequence. The viewers will have a chance to feast their eyes on some stunning sequences involving the raid of Paris and the battle that takes place in the sea when Ragnar heads there with 100 ships. Vikings Season 3 has seen the immense popularity of Game of Thrones and is trying to make it better.
There are rumors surrounding Athelstan’s impending death and the friendship between Rollo and Bjorn. In the midst of all the fighting, we often tend to forget about the strong female characters in Vikings.
Katheryn Winnick’s Lagertha is one such woman. She is a fighter, a skilled, strong-willed and brave woman! The path was not an easy one for her. She was hurt and had to struggle a lot. Lagertha was the former wife of Ragnar. She was in an abusive relationship, although, that problem is not sufficiently highlighted in the series.
The abuse and ill-treatment that she was subjected to in her life had not broken her. She became stronger and more powerful. After her husband, brought a new wife, Princess Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland), she was angry with her husband. In season 2 of Vikings, Ragnar cheats on her with Aslaug.
Everything changes for Lagertha at that moment. Vikings Season 3 will explore Lagertha’s struggle in detail. How she deals with Ragnar and his new love, Princess Aslaug and how she becomes a stronger and more powerful woman. A true Viking!
