Samsung Gear S2 Leaves Positive Impressions, Advances the Smartwatch Idea Nicely!

Samsung have been making a lot of progress on the smartwatch market lately, and while they started off with some questionable ideas, they’ve quickly moved forward with various interesting solutions to the problems of the market, and currently they are in a very good state in this regard. The latest Gear S2 that just came out recently has been a very strong entry into their line-up and many critics have been expressing positivity towards the device, claiming that it managed to address the various issues that were present in the original.

Currently, the Gear S2 is actually quite the nice offer, with various features that make it stand out from the competition very strongly and the device has a lot under the hood that comes together in a nice all around package. Samsung have taken an entirely new approach to their physical design and they’ve added various details to the watch that make it a great product as a whole, one that does its job more than fine in many regards.

The most notable change is in the control of the device, as Samsung have added a new dial that allows users to finely navigate through the menus and go through the various options with ease. This has been praised by various critics, with people claiming that this idea works far better than other control schemes we’ve seen previously, and it was an obvious step forward from the other designs that we’ve seen on the market. There’s reportedly still some perfecting that has to be done to get it truly right, but for the most part the watch offers a nice way to navigate its menus.

Other than that, users and critics have been commenting positively on aspects such as the durability and overall reliability of the watch, claiming that Samsung have obviously put a lot of effort into making it a sturdier device that can withstand a lot more abuse in a user’s everyday life. Of course, it’s still a bit more fragile than the average device that a user can put on their wrist that’s not a smartwatch, but that’s just the way things are with this technology and people have to get used to the fact that smartwatches are simply fragile and need to be treated with care.

On the other hand, some have pointed out that Samsung have added a lot more functionality to the device and have made it a more complete package capable of handling various tasks with ease, and it’s not just a “design show pony” as the previous version of the watch was reported to be. Sure, design is still a top priority in the development of this watch and there are various aspects of its form factor and configuration that add to its aesthetics without doing much for the functional aspect of the watch, but that’s pretty normal when one thinks about it, as the watch has to look pretty in order to grab attention after all.

Various features have been removed as well, and the design of the watch has been streamlined quite a lot. Samsung are obviously looking at removing various features that don’t work well with the overall idea of a smartwatch, such as the camera from the previous device which many people claimed didn’t make a lot of sense, and the current state of the watch is actually quite nice and polished all over. Some users might be disappointed that their favorite features from the previous version of the watch are missing, but it’s good to see that Samsung are willing to take away from their designs and not just add to them.
