The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace was showcased at the Frankfurt International Auto Show held in September. Car enthusiasts and motoring experts were thrilled knowing that British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover has finally decided to venture into a new realm with the beefy crossover SUV.
The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace was actually unravelled at the German auto show event along with the company’s new XE sedan. The 2017 F-Pace is meant to compete with the SUVs in the US while the Jaguar XE is designed to take on the BMW 3 Series and the Audi 4 both in Europe and the US.
The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is to become the first SUV in the company’s storied 80-year history. Despite being new in the segment, Jaguar Land Rover appears to have some aces on its sleeve and is quite confident that the 2017 F-Pace will be able to hold its own against the strong competition in the SUV segment.
When it finally comes out on the retail markets next year, the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace will rival other high-end SUVs including the Audi Q5, the BMW X3, among many others.
The British car manufacturer is pinning its hopes on the two vehicles to make its turnaround in the US market and elsewhere, which motoring experts believe is an incredibly risky move notwithstanding that the worldwide economy is still reeling a bit while Britain’s automotive industry is still on its heels
Spawning two more SUVs
Now, it turns out that the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is to be the first of three new SUVs that Jaguar Land Rover is planning to roll out one after the other. However, at the moment, only the 2017 F-Pace is pretty much confirmed while the two others are technically in the drawing boards still.
According to Carwow of UK, the Jaguar F-Pace could actually spawn two new models including a Range Rover Evoque-sized SUV called the E-Pace and a large SUV called the J-Pace, which shall also be using Range Rover underpinnings.
Apparently, Jaguar Land Rover will be positioning the two upcoming SUVs as mere supports to the F-Pace as the British carmaker believes that the first is to be its best-selling model while the two spawned variants would help the company dominate the evergreen UK market for SUVs.
The Jaguar E-Pace will reportedly come cheaper than the F-Pace. It is reported to have a chassis that underpins the new Discovery, which is based on the Freelander. According to the British carmaker, the E-Pace will have premium interiors and more road-based setup to make it a fun-to-drive luxury car, which is the hallmark of Jaguar Land Rover.
The Jaguar J-Pace, on the other hand, is said to be the more exciting of the two spawned models of the F-Pace. It will be making use of the high-tech aluminum platform that was developed for the current Range Rover. The SUV would come out relatively light and with great fuel economy too to help Jaguar Land Rover deliver a truly rewarding on-road driving experience.
Release date for the F-Pace
In addition to Audi and BMX, Jaguar Land Rover has some pretty heady competitors in the SUV segment when the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace comes out in the first half of next year.
Reports have it that it is the Porsche’s Macan that would be the F-Pace’s main competition, pricing-wise, so it is possible that its base model will come out of the retail market with a price of about $54,000, with the supercharged V6 model commanding a price of about $77,290.
