“Gran Turismo 7” has been rumored for quite a while to be a very advanced game that brings a lot to the franchise and recovers some of the damage done by the previous installment, and while it’s going to take a while before we see that game on the market, we’ve been getting some very interesting reports about its possible gameplay features. It’s starting to sound like a very peculiar title indeed, and it does sound like it can do a lot to regain fans’ trust in the series and make people interested in “Gran Turismo” once again.
According to some reports, one of the things that we might see in the new game is actual support for virtual reality goggles, something that is going to make the PlayStation 4 an even more interesting platform to have the game on. Sony are apparently in the process of developing their own solution for virtual reality, something that’s been in the works for quite a while and is apparently going to offer serious competition to the other major players on this market.
VR has been becoming a more and more interesting topic as time goes by, and there is a lot of interest in the concept from all sides of the industry. It’s clear that whoever manages to come out with the leading implementation and captures a large portion of the audience is going to have a lot of success on the market in general, but it remains to be seen if any company right now has the right formula. There are lots of active developments going on right now, but until we’ve seen a working implementation that offers all features people have wanted to see, we’re going to hold off on our impressions.
It’s good to see that companies are focusing on the right titles for this kind of idea though – a racing game is probably the perfect platform to experiment with the idea of virtual reality, and there is a lot of potential in a game like “Gran Turismo 7” in particular, which is going to be a serious racing simulator. There might be some interesting new developments on the VR front thanks to the effort being put in the next “Gran Turismo” game right now, and we’re curious to see how the studio is going to handle the various new features reportedly being added into the game.
But this is all important for the franchise in order to regain fans’ trust in it right now, as this has been lost to some extent through the poor results that “Gran Turismo 6” saw on the market. The game came out to less than favorable reception due to various issues in its development, and its developers found themselves in a peculiar spot with regards to trying to win their fans over. Many people were reluctant to trust the company after that, and currently there is some skepticism towards “Gran Turismo 7” mostly by people who remember how the previous game turned out.
However, according to reports, many of the problems with the previous game were caused by technology-related issues and more specifically the PlayStation 3’s hardware, so it’s entirely possible that the new game won’t suffer from any of those problems and will turn out just fine. It remains to be seen how the developers are going to handle it, but we definitely have some high expectations for this title, as do many fans of the franchise right now who are still hoping for the best.
