The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the flagship smartphone of the Korean tech giant way back in 2012 but whether people believe it or not, many are still using the handset even today. It is not just for sentimental reasons but more so because it is a great smartphone which can still compete toe-to-toe with a good number of mid-range handsets in the market these days in terms of performance and functionality.
Samsung has evidently raised its own bar in smartphone manufacturing excellence with the Galaxy S3. The Korean tech company did not only work on improving each and every aspect of the user experience of its predecessor, the Galaxy S2, it actually created the ultimate Android smartphone when the handset came out in 2012, details the GSM Arena.
Though the Samsung Galaxy S3 is more than three years old already, it is still one of the most, if not the most durable flagship smartphone, to come from the Korean tech giant and perhaps among the world’s roster of smartphone manufacturers.
It’s really hard to let go, especially for Samsung, after witnessing the smartphone getting more than 30 million units sold as of November 2012. Amid the launchings of three flagship smartphones after the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung’s 2012 flagship smartphone still has plenty left in its tank despite its age.
Samsung has put in a long list of assets in the development of the Galaxy S3 and what is good about it is the fact that the smartphone actually thrived on competition from 2012 up to now.
While most of its contemporary handsets have already made their curtain calls, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has yet to officially sing its swan song
Negative comments
Amid its superb features, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has had its fair share of negative comments as well since everyone knows that you can’t please everybody.
There have been reports in the past that the Samsung Galaxy S3 did not do well in the drop tests and that its quality was suspect, especially when it was compared to the Apple iPhone 5 back then.
As a result, the comparison only fuelled the divide and debate between Android and iOS mobile device users, which they have carried on to this day, but not as pronounced as it was back in 2012.
Some critics also questioned the battery life of Samsung Galaxy S3 even though it is still one of the better performing smartphones when it comes to battery life even when compared to the latest handsets in the market today.
Plenty of redeeming factors
When it came out back in 2012, the Samsung Galaxy S3 was one of the most expensive handsets back then. And it’s redeeming factors were the fact that its features and performance were really superb.
The Galaxy S3 featured a groundbreaking concept when it was launched back in 2012. It also carried with it a stunning 4.8-inch HD screen, a good quality eight-megapixel camera, which was quite superior at that time, and a microSD slot for expanding its internal storage capacity.
Most of all, it was actually regarded then as the fastest phone in the world when it was launched. Of course, things have changed now after three years but the Samsung Galaxy S3 can certainly still hold its own against some of the latest flagship smartphones of some handset makers.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 was among the first, if not the first smartphone to have used a quad-core 1.4GHz processor back in 2012. Its screen has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and its camera is capable of capturing a 1080-pixel video resolution. It ran on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich back then with TouchWiz feature too.
Another good thing going for the users of the smartphone is that it is quite inexpensive for them to get replacement backs for the Samsung Galaxy S3 that they simply cannot do so with its competitors.
