Suits Season 5 Ramps Up the Surprises, How Did the Show Do Overall Through the Years? Let’s See

“Suits” is a peculiar show. It’s been around for a while now, and it managed to become a huge hit from its very first few episodes. Many people were excited about the concept, and the show just seemed to do everything right, from its cast selection to the plot and overall theme/setting. And yet, even though there was some light humor here and there, it’s a drama at its core and it was always about exploring more serious, intense themes that other shows don’t like to touch so often.

Because of this, not many fans were expecting season 5 to turn out in a pleasant way for most characters, especially the main ones. And so far, this prediction is mostly turning out to be true, as pretty much everyone on the screen has been going through some very difficult times, Mike in particular. It looks like the characters of the show are all about to meet some serious challenges in their lives, and this could lead to a lot of development in their personalities.

But it could also lead to less pleasant changes, such as someone being taken out of the show if the writers decide to make things even more dramatic for their fans. So far, there have been some minor rumors that something like this could happen indeed, but none of them have come from any plausible sources so we are willing to discard them for the time being.

It’s peculiar to look at the evolution of the show and its characters, in any case. Throughout the seasons, things have changed a lot, and each character has had their personality fleshed out significantly, especially Mike and Harvey, but also many of the side characters. Donna in particular started to get a lot more active in the plot at one point and we saw many sides of her personality being explored in detail, especially with regards to her relationship with Harvey.

Something that fans have been discussing lately is the future of Mike. Despite being one of the main characters of the show, it looks like many fans are convinced that the right thing to do with his character would be to punish him severely for building his career on lies like he did. It sounds like many fans are following their moral compass when discussing this, rather than their attachment to the character, which is definitely good to see.

And it’s true that Mike is a very conflicting person. His character has been written to be very likeable (not to mention that he’s portrayed by the perfect actor for the job), and fans find it easy to get attached to him and relate to him in some ways. On the other hand, he is also doing things that many people simply cannot agree with, and this kind of moral conflict has been at the heart of the show since its beginning, although it hasn’t always been so obvious.

This trend can be seen in other characters too, although in some cases it’s reversed – for example, Louis Litt, one of the least likeable characters on the show, has been shown many times to have integrity and to insist on doing the right thing. Although that hasn’t always been the case, his character is a nice contrast to that of Mike and the two of them are a particularly strong duo on the screen, liked by many fans for a reason.
