Fans of “Outlander” have been waiting for the second season of the show after the first one saw a lot of success and very strongly positive reception by many, and while the new episodes are probably still some time away, at least we know they’re coming. Filming is already underway for the next season, and we’ve been hearing various rumors from the set that point towards some potentially interesting developments. So far though, many of those rumors are conflicting and it’s difficult to make sense of the whole situation.
One of the things that fans have been discussing the most is the character of Brianna, and who is going to play her in season 2. We know that Brianna is coming in the next season, but the actress behind her character is yet to be confirmed and the rumors generally point to two specific actresses. We don’t know who is going to get picked between them, or even if they are the only options, but regardless, fans have been giving some thought to the possibilities, judging by online messaging boards.
Sophie Turner and Maeve Foley are the two women in question, and there are various arguments in favor of both choices, so it’s hard to say what the producers of the show might choose in the end. As we said above, this is just a rumor and it might turn out that the two actresses weren’t even being considered at all, with someone else eventually joining the cast. The situation is difficult to read, but fans have been pointing out some specific facts that can shed some light on the possible outcomes.
For example, Sophie Turner is currently involved with another major production, “Game of Thrones”, where she plays the character of Sansa Stark. Considering that the both shows are currently supposed to be filming their next seasons, it would be pretty challenging for Turner to manage both roles at the same time.
It’s not just a matter of schedule – playing a character requires a deep commitment to the role and truly getting into the personality. Having to constantly switch between two roles would probably take its toll on any actor, even someone more experienced than Turner, so we don’t know if that’s a plausible rumor or not. Still, it keeps getting repeated in various circles, and at this point it looks like some fans are convinced that the rumor is true and that Turner will find some way to manage the role.
On the other hand, Maeve Foley seems like a more plausible choice, and there have even been rumors that she is already signed on to the show and has been added to the cast. However, none of those rumors seem to originate from any legitimate sources, and it would probably be a good idea to just disregard them for the moment. The actress herself hasn’t said anything on the issue (and neither has Sophie Turner), but that’s to be expected.
After all, even if she is joining the cast of the show and has been confirmed internally, this doesn’t give her the right to share that information with the public. The producers of the show know how they want to handle the release of information about season 2, and they will say what they want to say when the time is right. Character additions will have to be confirmed sooner or later, and that’s when we’ll find out the truth.
