‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ May Come Out as the Longest ‘X-Men’ Movie Yet!

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is the final movie of the second X-Men trilogy that began with “X-Men: First Class” shown in 2011 and “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” shown last year.

In addition to featuring younger versions of the previous characters during the first X-Men trilogy, the second trilogy also featured more new and exciting mutants, with the exception of Wolverine, who is still being played by Hugh Jackman.

Filming for “X-Men: Apocalypse” is already through and there are reports already coming out that it is to be the longest among “X-Men” movies of the past, all five of them, seven if the two films on Wolverine are counted.

The confirmation actually came from Director Bryan Singer himself who spoke during the recent San Pedro Film Festival and told everyone that his latest and supposedly last “X-Men” adventure will be the longest one yet.

Long for a good number of reasons

But the director said that the movie is long for a good number of reasons and the most important of them is the fact that “X-Men: Apocalypse” needs to effectively wrap up the entire series.

Singer said that the movie’s cuts are a little long, but the overall film is going to be a longer “X-Men” movie. He explained that in his past “X-Men” movies, he usually endeavor to keep it under two hours. However, he feels that it may not be the case for “X-Men: Apocalypse” because it actually wraps up a total of six movies, notes Slash Film.

The film director said that there is even a homage at the end, which will be spoiled because the producers are going to use it in the trailer which he said will be released early next year. Singer described it as a really cool trailer.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” will hit theaters on May 27, 2016 and if indeed it is the longest “X-Men” movie to date, the fans would surely love it because Marvel and DC movies these days are running for two-and-a-half hours.

Multiple personalities mutant

Sophie Turner will take on the role of the young Jean Grey in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” But the young actress, known more all over the world as Sansa Stark in the popular HBO TV series “Game of Thrones,” is actually capable of playing other mutants too, but in her own unofficial version that is.

Playing around on Instagram, Sophie has taken on Rogue’s powers and absorbs Storm abilities. She then posted a video of herself playing Storm on the photo-sharing application, which many believe the young actress have nailed it, cites HitFix.

Meanwhile, counting the two movies on Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman, there have been a total of seven “X-Men” movies in the past and the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be the eighth.

More than anything, the producers, the creative team, and some of the actors currently working on the movie described it as the biggest “X-Men” movie to date, and it appears that the studio is doing everything it can to make sure that it comes out that way.

The series obviously wants to build on the momentum of the record-breaking success of “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” that feature a massive and star-studded ensemble cast and was also critically praised.

In a recent interview, Simon Kinberg, producer and writer of “X-Men: Apocalypse,” disclosed that the movie is through with filming and is now on post-production phase.

He hinted that the film delivers on the dramatic story and emotion of the last two movies, referring to “X-Men: First Class” shown in 2011 and “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” released last year.

X-Men: Apocalypse

Kinberg said that “X-Men: Apocalypse” felt like the culmination of the four main characters James McAvoy, who plays Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender, who plays Magneto, Nic Hoult, who plays the Beast, and Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Mystique.

He also confirmed that it is a bigger movie in both physical scale and emotional stakes because of the culmination of the mini-trilogy of stories.
