Those who already own Apple’s latest releases, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, are probably still basking in the latest innovations right in their hands especially with the fact that their devices are already equipped with iOS 9. However, it looks like the American tech giant is ready to move on and go back to the drawing board very soon for what is heavily speculated as the iPhone 7.
Reports say that the company is already in the process of making its next flagship smartphone and what’s interesting is it might come as a bundle along with the Apple Watch 2. Apparently, the release dates of the two devices coincide with each other.
The first edition of the Apple Watch came out in March this year and normally that time of the year would mark the release of the new generation for the smartwatch. Geek Snack reports that Apple decided to postpone the release of Apple Watch 2 to September 2016.
Many were impressed with the Apple Watch, but it’s deemed not quite there yet when it comes to functionality and necessity. Hence, the reason why Apple is working hard to improve the second generation of the device.
While all of these remain unconfirmed, it is a plausible idea that Apple is allowing the spotlight to shine on two devices next year. An iPhone 7 and an Apple Watch 2 bundle spells sales potentials all over.
If the tech giant wants to improve the sale of the wearable device, partnering it with their latest flagship phone is a great marketing idea. Also, the hype for the iPhone 7 is quite extensive because some Apple fans reportedly were not at all impressed by the iPhone 6S release.
Either way, iPhone 7 is expected to still make headlines even if it is unveiled without the Apple Watch 2. Speculations say that the upcoming iPhone is bound to set itself apart from its predecessors.
According to ValueWalk, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted Apple patent for a “glass wraparound design” which means that if this technology is applied, future Apple devices may come out in cylindrical, spherical, or any other shape.
The new design feature also forgoes the smartphone’s home button in order to extend and maximize the possible display screen of the iPhone 7 all the way to the bottom.
In the growing models of iPhone, ValueWalk notes that form factor is an interesting area for development and improvement given that most companies have nestled in a standard form.
In addition, the tech titan has also patented a gesture-based system to enter the passcode that works in unison with the TouchID fingerprint sensor. This new technology tracks how a specific dot is tapped, not just which dot is tapped by the user.
Furthermore, speculations say that the iPhone 7 will take a page from Sony Xperia’s devices and will be completely waterproof and dustproof. If rumors are true, then the upcoming phone will be the first completely waterproof device from the company.
It is important to note however that gadget users have already found Samsung’s waterproof feature a disappointment. Should Apple take the risk, they should probably prepare another crisis management just in case another bendgate incident happens.
There’s almost a year left until Apple unveils the iPhone 7 but KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo already claims that the upcoming flagship phone will be insanely thin, even slimmer than the latest iPad Air and the iPod Touch.
The current iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are 7.1 mm and 7.3 mm thick, respectively, while next year’s phone is pegged to have a thickness of between 6 mm and 6.5 mm. International Business Times speculates that because of the patent technology, iPhone 7 could carry a larger battery.
Furthermore, Apple is reportedly trying to make a statement with iPhone 7’s release next year. According to reports, the company is ushering the virtual reality technology and the 2016’s flagship phone could be the right moment to launch it.
