“GTA 6” is a long time away by all accounts, and the game might not even have been started internally yet. All we’ve been hearing are rumors about the studio’s plans for the future and their ideas for how they want to develop the game, and although some of those rumors have been repeated a few times already, it’s probably safe to assume that everything is still under question and nothing is set in stone, so it’s not a very good idea to take all those rumors at face value and they should probably be taken with a grain of salt.
In the end, it’s safe to assume that Rockstar are still experimenting with what works and doesn’t work, and will take a lot from “GTA 5” over to the next game. They have learned various lessons from this title and they have obviously made some mistakes while developing it which they are going to want to avoid in the next installment, but in the end that’s the way game development works and that’s how a major franchise like this can be developed to perfection.
Rockstar have been experimenting a lot with “GTA 5” itself and they have introduced various features to the new game, some of which were taken very well by the community, others not so much. The title changed significantly in some particular aspects, such as the variety of its gameplay and the number of things players can do in the world, but it also climbed up in system requirements and other similar regards, although this was to be expected.
One thing in particular which stood out to the community as somewhat poorly implemented was the multiplayer aspect of the game. It was highly anticipated by everyone, and yet when the game came out, it was plagued by various issues in this regard. It took Rockstar some time to get things working properly, and by that point the community had grown quite frustrated with the state of things. In the end, even after all the changes, the multiplayer of “GTA 5” is not perfect and has some fundamental issues.
Particularly with regards to balance – this is something that has been undergoing various major changes through the months that “GTA 5” was out, but it looks like the game was simply designed with some improper ideas in the first place and has to be rethought from the ground up if the multiplayer is to work correctly.
Players seem frustrated with the idea that they don’t have a lot of use for the large amounts of cash that they have been accumulating, although Rockstar have released various updates to remedy that issue and make the title feel more balanced and varied. There is currently quite a lot a player can do in the online world of “GTA 5”, and even though Rockstar could probably add even more content, the state of the game in this regard is probably the best they can do for the time being.
Other than that, players seem to want more expansive, massive worlds with a lot to see and do in the multiplayer component of the game. This is already close to reality in “GTA 5”, but the limitations of the multiplayer infrastructure are showing, and players have noticed that the game is already being pushed to its limits in this regard, so there is probably not much to be expected from the current installment.
