Russian supermodel Irina Shayk got cleared from the rumors that began circulating a few months ago that she previously dated disgraced former FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
When rumors broke out about the supposed romantic relationship between Irina and Sepp, the supermodel vehemently denied it. Her boyfriend, the American actor Bradley Cooper, came to her immediate defense then by saying that he believes that Irina was telling the truth.
The rumors started swirling when the Spanish newspaper El Mundo published a piece titled “All the Women in Blatter’s Life.”
Apparently, the article not just alluded but directly cited Irina Shayk as one of the many lovers of the 79-year-old scandal-ridden former FIFA chief, details Page Six.
According to the article, Irina dated the controversial FIFA president after the aging and balding Blatter broke up with tennis player Ilona Boguska and before meeting his current girlfriend Linda Barras.
Along with her vehement denial, Irina Shayk also threatened to sue the publication for libel for its false and malicious claims about a relationship that never happened.
Realizing that its argument does not stand on a good legal leg, El Mundo issued a retraction a few days ago by admitting the falseness and consequently, the inaccuracy of its report about Irina having a romantic relationship with Sepp Blatter. The newspaper also offered a public apology to Irina for the mess that it has created as a result of the inaccurate report.
Irina has decided against suing the publication after its public apology, but she expressed her thoughts about the issue on Twitter on October 9 when she said that she is saddened to see people putting 15 minutes of fame before integrity. She added that she is elated that the truth eventually prevailed and she is also happy to put the issue behind her.
A low maintenance girlfriend
Although she is very fashionable and really look sophisticated, Irina Shayk is reportedly a low maintenance girlfriend.
Irina herself admitted in a recent interview that she is low maintenance when it comes to relationships, which means that she does not demand so much on her boyfriend regardless of the situation. In fact, she mentioned that she can settle for a cute card which she says is always nice, details the International Business Times.
She also mentioned that she may be Russian, but she is low maintenance, dispelling notions that most Russian women are high maintenance in relationships.
Irina and Bradley Cooper have been dating since April after both came from failed relationships with long-time partners. Cooper was dating model Suki Waterhouse for a good number of years before they broke up early this year. Irina, on the other hand, was dating Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for five years, before they broke up early this year as well due to allegations of cheating by the football sensation.
In May, Bradley and Irina were spotted making out in the dark corner during the Met Gala at Rihanna’s after party.
They also had an intimate vacation in Italy’s Amalfi Coast in August where they stayed at Le Sirenuse, a luxury hotel in Positano, Italy, whose famous guests roster already includes actress Gwyneth Paltrow and “American Horror Story” executive producer, writer, and director Brad Falchuk.
