The main point of “The Expendables” has always been to bring together various big names in the film industry, especially actors known for action roles, and put them in an amazing, explosive mix full of opportunities for them to show off their skills in detail and amaze their fans for a couple of hours. It was always meant to be a bit humorous while maintaining a somewhat serious tone, and even though the performance of the franchise in the long term didn’t turn out as it was expected before, it’s still a pretty good series with a strong potential for the future.
Currently, there are various rumors about who might be joining the cast of “The Expendables 4”, and of course fans love to speculate about various actors, especially big names that haven’t been in the films so far. Most recently we heard claims that The Rock was interested in taking part, although there haven’t been any official claims in this regard.
The actor himself did previously say that he would be interested in playing in the next film, but only if he was given the role of a villain and not that of a member of the good guys’ team. We don’t know if Sylvester Stallone would consider turning the plot like that, but we definitely see it as a possibility. It would not only spice up the film quite a bit, but it could also open up the doors to various other additions that would complement The Rock nicely, allowing Stallone to develop an even more interesting plot.
Of course, the plot has never been an important point of “The Expendables”, but it’s still important to have something plausible and yet exciting going on to tie everything together. Otherwise, the film would just be a long sequence of meaningless action scenes, and while some people would definitely enjoy seeing something like this, it’s not what the majority of fans are looking for.
Sadly, Jackie Chan is among the names of actors who have confirmed that they are not taking part in the new installment. According to the actor, he has already been offered to get a small role on the film, but he wasn’t satisfied with the idea of doing a simple cameo appearance, he wants to have a much more prominent role. Because of this, he is not joining the production for the time being.
Other than that, there are various other rumors pointing towards different famous Hollywood actors. Until Stallone himself reveals the official cast list for “The Expendables”, we aren’t going to know for sure. But for many fans, this phase of speculating about the next actors to join the film is one of the most exciting things about the franchise as a whole. It’s always fun to try guessing who’s going to be the next one to enter the picture, and there are so many possibilities in the industry that fans will always have something to talk about.
Hopefully, Stallone is going to come up with a good cast configuration for this installment, as the film will definitely need to score well once it’s released if there are to be more “The Expendables” films. If this one fails to get noticed too much, it could result in a general failure for the franchise, as people won’t be happy to go for much longer without a well-done film that gives them a good impression of their favorite actors.
