The official plot synopsis for the next episode of “Gotham” has been released, and apparently some characters are going to get closer and strengthen their relationships. Or at least some of them are going to attempt to move things in that direction, but it’s not entirely clear if that will lead to anything productive.
Edward Nygma saved Ms. Kringle from the Maniax in the last episode, and now he will apparently try to bridge the gap between the two of them, attempting to get closer to her during the new episode. It remains to be seen if he is going to be successful with that, given the personalities of both characters, but it would certainly be an interesting development that some fans have even described as adorable when discussing the show online.
Things might not take such a lovely turn though, depending on where Edward is headed with his own mindset. The character has some very noticeable personality issues that have been getting deeper and deeper, and if he doesn’t get that under control soon, it could easily cause trouble not only for him, but for Ms. Kringle too.
On the other hand, some fans are hopeful that the character is going to be positively affected by his new relationship and this change in his life will be the key to his happiness in the long term. Knowing the overall dark nature of the show however, we don’t see it as that likely that the writers will let him off the hook that easily.
Meanwhile, other characters will be facing some very personal problems that might have a strong impact on the development of the plot as a whole. The Maniax may have been stopped in the last episode, but that was only a temporary development – they are the new main villains of the show and they will obviously retain a strong presence on the screen, tormenting everyone in the city. Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock will be going after them, but this might be a tough fight for the characters for certain reasons.
They will also have to confront Jerome, and since both characters have a severe personal hatred for the character, this is a battle that will have a much stronger meaning than some fans are possibly suspecting. Hopefully it will not result in any permanent negative repercussions for the good guys, as this is definitely something we would expect from the writers of this show.
Im fact, the presence of Jerome will actually have some pretty major implications for the plot. The character has already done a lot of harm, and now he’s looking to take another life and further drive the good characters into a fit of rage. In addition, it sounds like the writers might be planning something particularly nasty with his character, and there have been hints that he could do some even more dramatic actions than what he did in the last episodes.
Furthermore, Jerome will apparently get his hands on Bruce Wayne himself, and it looks like Alfred will be the one who has to save him. This particular scene has sparked a lot of discussion in the community, and some fans are actually worried about what might happen to the character. Hopefully this is just a temporary setback and not some major threat to the life of Bruce Wayne, though of course we don’t expect the writers to actually put his life in danger in any serious way.
