Season 3 of the American police procedural TV drama series “Chicago P.D.” is set to premiere on NBC on September 30 and based on the spoilers going all over the internet, the show will start off with a reunion of sort of former lovers, former Detective Erin Lindsay, and Detective Jay Halstead.
But it would not be any sort of romantic reunion as Lindsay, played by Sophia Bush, will actually work solo despite no longer being an operative, to rescue Halstead, played by Jesse Lee Soffer, from the kidnappers led by Derek Keyes, played by Bokeem Woodbine, details Christian Today.
Lindsay will do the solo mission not out of love to her former colleague and lover, but to extricate herself out of her depression that seems to be imprisoning her.
Back in Season 2, Lindsay made her intention to resign from her post after she succumbed to a series of depressing events in her life. Her depression will actually be tackled during the first few episodes of Season 3 of “Chicago P.D.” including the time she spent with her mother.
But she will wake up from her depression stupor the moment she learns that Halstead was abducted, perhaps hinting that Erin still loves Jay.
Taking matters into her own hands
While the law enforcement group at Chicago P.D. will be pursuing Keyes as he is one of Chicago’s most wanted and notorious drug pushers, Lindsay would go on a solo mission and will take matters into her own hands to find Halstead.
The trailer of the popular TV series released by NBC recently actually showed Halstead being abducted and tortured by the henchmen of Keyes. It was also shown that the kidnappers asked a lone female officer as the go-between. It was the perfect entry point for Lindsay, which she plans to use to rescue Halstead.
Season 3 of “Chicago P.D.” will pick up just a few weeks after the Season 2 finale, around the time when Lindsay decided to quit the force.
Also in the same trailer, Halstead pretty much showed his concern or continuing affection for Lindsay when he asks Sergeant Henry ‘Hank’ Voight, played by Jason Beghe if he should reach out to Lindsay. Voight, as every fan of the TV series knows, is the surrogate father of Lindsay.
Pulled back to the force
Based on the other promo teasers, video clips, and leaks on Season 3 of “Chicago P.D.,” it is likely that Lindsay will be pulled back to the force because being in law enforcement practically runs in her blood.
Fashion & Style cited that Lindsay will definitely return to intelligence within a few episodes after the Season 3 premiere. But it would not be easy for her.
In a recent interview, actress Sophia Bush said that there are consequences and there are new rules for her character in “Chicago P.D.” She said however that at the end of the day, her character in the TV series will be who she is and she is proud to say that it is one good thing that she is really good at.
The actress also spoke about Lindsay’s relationship with Halstead, saying that the relationship has been through a lot but at the end of the day, they will remain as partners.
Bush said that the law enforcement team has a simpatico and they have a connection that is quite meaningful. She added that what makes the unit very interesting is the fact that everyone has a partner. Since they only have a small group, Bush said that they change it up and the show works on different pairings.
