Previous spoilers about the upcoming second season of the American superhero TV series “The Flash” on The CW have indicated that there will be more speedsters running on the show after it premieres on October 6.
It can be recalled that the main villain during Season 1 was also a speedster in the person of the Reverse Flash, whose alter ego was Eobard Thawne, played by Tom Cavanagh. With the help of his friends, Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash wiped the Reverse Flash completely from existence and shall now face a different nemesis for Season 2.
The CW has recently released some behind-the-scene promo photos for Season 2 of the “The Flash” and what caught the attention of the avid fans and viewers of the show is the meeting between Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, and Jay Garrick, to be played by Teddy Sears, notes Comingsoon.net.
Every fan knows that Barry Allen is The Flash while a good number of the comic book fans know that Jay Garrick is the Earth 2 Flash or better known as the Golden Age Flash. They will be in the same side on Season 2, which means Team Flash will only become stronger.
Cast of characters
In addition to Grant Gustin and Teddy Sears, the other cast of characters of “The Flash” who are confirmed for Season 2 are Candice Patton as Iris West, Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, Daniel Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West.
The newcomers include Violett Beane as the female speedster Jesse Quick, Demore Barnes as Tokamak, and “Candyman” actor Tony Todd as the voice of the show’s new big bad Zoom.
According to the Den of Geek, the first time meeting between Barry Allen and Jay Garrick will be very short so fans should not even blink because they might miss it.
However, Garrick will reportedly do some running on S.T.A.R. Labs’ treadmill in the upcoming season. He will be a mysterious figure who will arrive in Central City to warn Barry Allen and Team Flash of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop. Jay Garrick will come from the parallel world known as Earth 2.
Bringing back the Crimson Comet
In a recent interview, showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said that they find it exciting to come to Season 2 by bringing the Crimson Comet into life, referring to Jay Garrick. He added that they could not imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy Sears.
Those who are familiar with The Flash comic books know that Jay has been at the whole Flash game longer than Barry Allen. Jay Garrick as Flash first appeared in Flash Comics #1 way back in 1940, and he has since appeared in comics on and off.
Reports also have it that Jay Garrick’s Flash costume will typically be reverent Flash style, with a homage to the cover of The Flash #123, which came out in 1961 that also introduced the DC Multiverse.
Meanwhile, Season 2 of “The Flash” will not be having a crossover of some sort to the horror flick “The Candyman” shown in 1992.
But the actor who deliciously portrayed the role of “The Candyman,” Tony Todd, will be featured in the upcoming season of “The Flash” to take on the big bad villain named Zoom.
After dealing with the Reverse Flash in Season 1, Barry Allen will have to face an even tougher speedster of a menace in Zoom. And considering that the villain also has the same level of speed as The Flash, if not better and more powerful, The Flash would need all the help he can get to deal with the new terror to hit Central City.
It has been previously reported that The Flash will draw on several speedsters to combat the new batch of menace that will come to Central City in the aftermath of the big storm which was shown during the Season 1 finale.
The second season of “The Flash” will premiere on The CW on October 6 but Tony Todd as Zoom will initially start off as voice of the new menace beginning on the second episode of the TV series titled “Flash of Two Worlds.”
