Samsung Galaxy S7 to Come Out with Two Variants Featuring a Flat Display and a Dual-Edge Curved Display, More Details!

When Samsung suffered from three consecutive quarters of falling revenues last year, the Korean tech giant probably made a commitment that it will rebound well from the disappointing year that was 2014.

So when 2015 came, it spared no time in launching to the market its latest flagship smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge – which obviously enabled the company to redeem itself in the high-end smartphone segment from the disappointment of its Galaxy S5, the company’s flagship smartphone of 2014.

And it seems that Samsung is not just content with recovering lost ground in the high-end smartphone segment as apparently, the Korean tech giant wants to do the same in the phablet, the tablet, and the mid-range smartphone segments too.

That is why it launched the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in June to reclaim its throne in the mid-range smartphone segment, and then the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus last month to keep its lead on the phablet segment and build on its advantage in the high-end handset category.

There are already reports that Samsung is also about to launch its Galaxy Tab S2, which would give the iPad Air 2, the iPad Pro, the iPad mini 3, the iPad mini 4, and the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 4, a good run for the consumers’ money.

Busy with the next flagship

While Samsung has already recovered from the debacle in the flagship smartphone category with its unveiling of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge in March this year, the Korean tech company no longer wants to rest its laurels the way it did after 2013.

Reports have it that Samsung is now busy working on its next flagship smartphone – the Samsung Galaxy S7. Accordingly, just like its flagship launching this year, Samsung will be launching two flagship smartphones next year which it may call as the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Sam Mobile reports that the smartphone builds codenamed as SM-G930 and the SM-G935 are the variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The first one features a flat display while the latter sports a dual-edge curved display, which actually resemble the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, respectively.

Even this early, the two models of the Galaxy S7 will be heading to Canada, China, Europe, Korea and the US.

Rumored release date and price

According to Pocket-lint, it is likely that Samsung will launch its Galaxy S7 flagship smartphones at the upcoming MWC 2016 to be held in February 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.

It is expected that from the time of its launching at the MWC 2016, buyers should be expecting the smartphones to hit the retail store shelves in five weeks time or later.

When the Galaxy S6 came out, it carried a retail price of $911.76 so the Galaxy S7 would most likely come out with a price higher than its predecessor. It is actually possible that the smartphone would be retailed for more than $1,000.

Excellence, after all, does not come cheap and that seems to be the new mantra of Samsung after it redeemed itself from last year’s debacle with the Samsung Galaxy S5 with this year’s Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge that reinvigorated the market on its favor.

While the initial reports suggest that Samsung was planning to release the Galaxy S7 before the end of the year, it turned out to be just hype because it is likely that the Korean tech giant would prefer to have its very successful Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge complete their market cycle before another flagship takes over their mantle and great run.

Samsung seems to be building further on the success of its current smartphone lines as it is also about to release the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus within the next few weeks or months.
