The Duggar family has been surrounded by even more drama lately on “19 Kids and Counting”, although at least they also have some positive news to counterbalance that. It was recently announced that Jill and Derick are expecting another child, although it wasn’t confirmed specifically – Derrick simply said that fans should prepare themselves for an important announcement soon. The implications of that statement are pretty clear though, so most people are just waiting for the news to officially come out at this point.
This is probably not a major surprise to some people who’ve been following the show and the lives of the Duggars, as it’s no secret that they are quite fond of increasing the size of their household and they tend to have new children quite often. However, given the fact that the family is also perpetually surrounded by major drama, some fans have been worried about the possible future of those children and the kind of environment they are going to grow up in.
Case in point, Jill and Derick have recently been surrounded by some drama after they made the announcement that they were going to take off on a pretty significant trip. They asked their fans to donate to their “cause” – which was allegedly to spread the word about their mission – but in the end, some people started pointing out inconsistencies in the whole story and there was a lot of speculation that the whole thing was just one big scam.
And it didn’t take long for anger to build up among the many people who once supported the couple during its time on the show. Their Facebook page was quite heavily populated by nasty messages from many sides, and it looks like people aren’t going to let this incident die down anytime soon.
The allegations coming from their fans claim that the two haven’t been using the funds as they originally described they would, and instead they’ve been using the money to travel around for various leisure activities and family gatherings. Certainly nothing close to what they originally described they needed the money for – and this has created an expected backlash among the community, especially from people who have been part of the donation campaign.
Some people are even requesting that the couple refund any donations that have been made so far, although the chances of that ever happening are probably pretty slim overall. Let’s not forget the overall attitude that they have displayed towards their fans throughout all of this – unless an actual, serious lawsuit is brought to the table, it’s very likely that they will not do anything to reimburse the people who’ve donated to the campaign.
Among those who’ve come out to speak against the actions of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are some who claim to have been actual missionaries themselves, sharing their own experiences and describing how the actions of the couple in no way resemble what they’ve previously seen with their own eyes within the community.
The two are yet to come out with a response to this mess that satisfies their fans, but we don’t know if they actually will engage the situation any further. It’s pretty clear at this point that there is a lot of rage built up among their fans and the couple might be wise to just stop their entire trip and let the situation die down by itself.
