Jon Snow is the hottest topic in the community of “Game of Thrones” fans, and those who follow the book series that the show is based on – “A Song of Ice and Fire” – are just as excited to find out what will happen to one of their favorite characters. While Jon was pretty obviously dead the last time we saw him, Kit Harington who plays his character on the TV show was recently reported to have been still working on the show, which gave fans a lot of hope that they would see him coming back.
Of course, he didn’t reveal any actual details of his work on the show and we have no idea if his character survived the dramatic season finale of the show, or if there are going to be flashback scenes that feature him or something along those lines. There are certainly various ways to explain why Harington could still be involved with the production, and it doesn’t necessarily have to imply that Jon Snow survived.
It would certainly be the kind of development that most fans want to see at the moment though, as many were disappointed to see Jon Snow of all people getting killed off. It’s pretty standard for “Game of Thrones” fans to accept the idea that most of their favorite characters are in constant danger as the show never spares anyone, but at the same time, Snow was one of the more special characters in many people’s eyes and it was severely disappointing to see him killed.
Meanwhile, George R.R. Martin has been somewhat quiet about his progress on the next book in the series, and we don’t know when we can expect it. The most that we’ve heard so far is that the book is supposedly coming at some point in 2016, as it likely won’t be ready in time for a 2015 release. Many fans were apparently hopeful that they would get to read the next installment in the series this year, but knowing how busy Martin is, it’s good to see that he at least still has a firm focus on this project and isn’t going to stretch it out forever.
One of the things we’ve learned recently is that the show is not going to deviate from the books with regards to Jon Snow’s death specifically – if the character is dead for good in “Winds of Winter”, then this is what we’re going to see in the next season of the show too.
Because of this, fans are now hoping that the book will arrive as soon as possible because they want to find out what the character’s future holds for him and if Martin really is planning to kill him off. It’s entirely possible that Martin doesn’t want to keep Jon Snow around, and it won’t be the first time the author has introduced a more dramatic development in the books to shake up his fans a little bit.
But it’s also worth noting that the death of Jon Snow could have some serious repercussions for the rest of the plot and we wouldn’t be surprised if its effects echo throughout the storyline of the books/show for a long time afterwards. Of course, it’s guaranteed that Martin knows how to handle this death in a way that doesn’t cause any unwanted negative effects, but he could also be planning just that – to get his fans even angrier.
