‘Half Life 3’ Development License Asked from Valve by Naughty Dog Director!

It seems that it is not only the fans and gamers of the first-person shooter video game “Half Life 3” who are agonizing for the long wait in the development of the highly-anticipated and popular video game title.

Some game developers also feel that Valve Corporation has been taking its sweet time far too long on the development of “Half Life 3.”

Naughty Dog director Neil Druckmann, who was responsible for creating other popular video game titles such as “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” and “The Last of Us,” has openly asked Valve for the development license of “Half Life 3.”

Druckmann offered to take “Half Life 3” off Valve’s hands and added that Naughty Dog will be happy to take Valve’s flagship video game title to where it is destined to be.

The game director of Naughty Dog actually said those statements via Twitter where he also said that if Valve will give them the license for the development of “Half Life 3,” Naughty Dog will take care of the rest.

Bleeding Cool believes that because of the public nature of the proposal of Druckmann to Valve, it would appear that the game creator was just making a joke about the whole thing. But fans are hopeful that Valve would soon work on the game if not give it up and allow others to take over the development of the game.

Possible release date

Based on the disclosure made by a supposed former employee of Valve Corporation, “Half Life 3” will be released after the multiplayer zombie shooter video game, “Left 4 Dead 3” is finally rolled out to the video game retail markets.

The Christian Today placed the possible release date for “Half Life 3” at any time from the fourth quarter of 2017 up to the first quarter of 2018.

The revelations of the alleged former employee of Valve Corporation are a welcome relief to anxiously waiting fans of “Half Life 3” because it actually debunked previous rumors that the game will no longer be developed.

“Half Life 2” was released way back in 2004, with its final installment having been released some three years later. If “Half Life 3” is indeed to be released late in 2017 or early 2018, then fans and gamers would have waited between 13 to 14 years before the next installment to arrive, which is considered an eternity in gaming.

Excited over latest leaks

There have been reports in August that a former employee of Valve confirmed that the game developer has calendared the development of “Half Life 3” sometime in the future.

Coming on the heels of those reports that delighted “Half Life 3” fans and gamers to no end, a leaked screenshot of a robot from “Half Life 2” running on Source 2 Engine that came out in a web-based bulletin and forum site 4Chan has further raised the level of enthusiasm and excitement to the game.

Accordingly, it was Minh “Gooseman” Le, creator of “Counter-Strike,” who posted the screenshot during a discussion in the online public forum where he was also quoted as saying that gamers should be hearing something from Valve Corporation by the end of the year.

Minh Le has left Valve since 2013 so his information, assuming that it was really him who posted the image on the forum site, is still second-hand as it did not come from Valve itself.

It is also worth noting that the individual claiming to be Le had no actual proof that he was indeed the Gooseman and that his leaked image does not have a corroborating statement from anybody from Valve.

Half-Life 3

The leaked image on 4Chan actually showed the friendly robot named Dog. However, looking back through the older game’s files, the same leaked image has not been found. But those who have seen the image says that the texture appears to be from a Source 2 engine, which is really rich in graphics.

Based on the same discussion on the forum, the image was supposedly made sometime between March and April of last year.
