‘The Flash’ Season 2 to See ‘The Candyman’ Actor Playing Big Bad Zoom!

Season 2 of the American superhero TV series “The Flash” will not be having a crossover of some sort with the horror flick “The Candyman” shown in 1992.

But the actor who deliciously portrayed the role of “The Candyman,” Tony Todd, will be featured in the upcoming season of “The Flash” to take on the role of the big bad villain named Zoom.

After dealing with the Reverse-Flash in Season 1, Barry Allen a.k.a. as The Flash will have to face an even tougher speedster of a menace in Zoom. And considering that the villain also has the same level of speed as The Flash, if not better and more powerful, he would need all the help he can get to deal with the new terror to hit Central City.

It has been previously reported that The Flash will draw on several benevolent speedsters to combat the new batch of menace that will come to Central City in the aftermath of the big storm that happened during the Season 1 finale.

To start off as voice actor

The second season of “The Flash” will premiere on The CW on October 6 but Tony Todd as Zoom will initially start off as voice of the new menace beginning on the second episode of the TV series titled “Flash of Two Worlds,” details Mstars News.

Accordingly, the producers of the popular TV show will draw out the mystery of villain Zoom like a horror movie, which suits Tony Todd’s portrayal just fine, having been a popular character in many other horror flicks other than “The Candyman.”

Showrunner Andrew Kreisberg explained that during Season 1, they just modulated Tom Cavanagh’s voice as the Reverse-Flash but come Season 2, it would be a bit different.

He disclosed that part of the mystery of Season 2 is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit and that they wanted it to be something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader, the iconic voice coming out of the mask.

Kreisberg said that if Reverse-Flash was a speed warrior in Season 1, Zoom is like a speed-demon and that no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd.

He also added that Zoom is like the Marvel super villain, Venom, the nemesis of Spider-Man, which means that the big baddie could be the dark side of Barry Allen or The Flash himself.

The showrunner added that the costume of Zoom is much more organic and it would be very hard to tell if the suit is alive because there will be no skin showing and fans and viewers might even think that there’s a robot underneath or some sort of dark energy.

Subtle differences

Meanwhile, Comicbook.com detailed the subtle differences between Reverse-Flash and Zoom. Those who are familiar with The Flash story from the comic books know that Reverse-Flash is Eobard Thawne, which is the main villain of Season 1, played by Tom Cavanagh.

Zoom, on the other hand, is Hunter Zolomon, a Wally West villain who was prevalent during the Geoff John’s long run as the writer of The Flash.

But the outlet believes that it would be Edward Clariss, who is called The Rival, who shall become the main villain for Season 2.

Clariss is the blue-masked self-obsessed doppelganger of Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash. He is a professor at the university attended by Earth 2 Flash, Jay Garrick. He believed he had recreated the formula that gave Garrick his speed, but the scientific community did not believe him, driving him to madness and crime.

the flash

He eventually took the streets in a darker version of Garrick’s costume, and instead of trailing yellow lightning behind him when he ran, he leaves blue trails because of the darker pants and blue face mask he wore.

‘”The Flash” is really living up to its reputation for speed. Season 2 of the TV series will actually fast forward to six months after the events of the Season 1 finale when it returns to The CW in October.
