‘The Blacklist’ Season 3 to See Liz Keen Sporting a New Hairdo and Looking Like Her Mother!

Season 3 of the American crime drama TV series “The Blacklist” will premiere on NBC on September 24 and the trailer of the show clearly showed that Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen, played by Megan Boone, has just dyed her hair blonde and already looking like her mother.

Liz had to change her appearance because during the Season 2 finale, she just turned from being the hunter into being the hunted along with Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, played by James Spader.

Series creator Jon Bokenkamp explained the importance for Liz to change her hair color and do and make herself look like her mother because it is an organic way of telling the story of two fugitives, while tying it to the past and mythology of the real relationship of Liz and Red, details the Christian Post.

Bokenkamp said that the plot actually leans on the much bigger question of identity, more than anything else.

The showrunner added that Liz has a deep criminal instinct that she has been resisting for so long and it is now showing as she becomes the hunted. Accordingly, her survival will depend on determining who she really is and what her past holds for her.

In Season 2, viewers found out that Liz was previously Masha Rostova, but her connection with Red is still a mystery. Her mother, who is an ex-KGB agent Katarina Rostova, will apparently have a leading role as the narrative unfolds in Season 3 and she will be the link who shall unlock the truth about the relationship of Red and Liz, details Moviepilot

A little killer

Season 2 ended with a twist when Liz eventually learned that she was the one who killed her father while she was little.

She then shoots US Attorney General Tom Connolly, played by Reed Birney, and decides to run away with Red and officially becomes a fugitive as one of the FBI’s most wanted from previously playing one of the most promising profilers in the bureau.

Liz had to shoot the government official after learning that he is a member of the criminal organization known as The Cabal.

The FBI will apparently send out Ressler, played by Diego Klattenhoff, to do the manhunt on Red and Liz. Given his gung-ho approach, Ressler will reportedly go to great lengths just to catch the two fugitives, even if it means putting others in danger.

A new villain

In addition, Season 3 will introduce a new villain named Mr. Solomon, which is to be played by Edi Gathegi, who portrayed Darwin in “X-Men: First Class.”

Based on the synopsis, Mr. Solomon is described as a secretive, modest and serene on the surface but has a terrifying hidden capacity for violence beneath it all. He is apparently a monster in disguise as a true gentleman and he is actually the hired hand of The Cabal as ‘the cleaner.’

“The Blacklist” Season 2 finale showed a rather emotional episode, which would surely prepare something very interesting for the upcoming season.

In a recent interview, Boone said that viewers of “The Blacklist” should expect something very different when the show returns for its third season. She said that the TV series will still maintain the same characters but will bring very different dynamics, particularly with regards to law enforcement.

Latest reports about “The Blacklist” indicate that the fourth episode will bring the fugitives face-to-face with a criminal whose nickname comes from the Islamic mythology – the Djinn.

According to Bokenkamp, they have blown up the format of “The Blacklist.” It will no longer be like the first two seasons where Red sits on a park bench and tells Liz the next Blacklister she is going to catch with his help of course.

The Blacklist - Season 1

While the first two seasons of “The Blacklist” is already considered dark, Season 3 is expected to turn even darker following the developments in the Season 2 finale.

“The Blacklist” will feature considerably bleaker outlook as Liz no longer works within the law. She disappeared with Red at the end of the second season.
