Season 4 of the American political drama TV series “House of Cards” on Netflix is still six months away from its possible release early next year but rumors, speculations and reports about its possible spoilers, plot details, and new cast members have been making the rounds on the internet as if the show will be airing pretty soon.
Of course, following the blowout breakup of Frank and Claire Underwood in the Season 3 finale, it is expected that the plot of Season 4 will revolve around their conflict considering that they are the President and the First Lady, respectively, of the United States.
Initial reports indicate that Claire, having been married to Frank for quite some time, will work on undermining his credibility before the American people as she will reportedly run against him during his attempt at re-election.
However, latest reports eventually came out to say that despite their breakup during the Season 3 finale, Claire would still stick with Frank and they will remain married but their relationship is merely for public consumption only because outside of the limelight, they will live different and separate lives.
The rumors about “House of Cards” are so many that most of them are actually contradicting one another so avid viewers no longer know which report is accurate and which is not.
Plotting another murder
However, the International Business Times of India believes that Season 4 of the Machiavellian drama will continue to focus on Frank and his obsession with power. After all, other characters in the TV series only serve as a foil to the cold-hearted megalomaniac that is Frank.
In a recent interview, Director Michael Dobbs revealed that Frank Underwood will eventually get his comeuppance in Season 4 because all politicians get it anyway. He said that the only question is whether he survives and come back for more.
Frank’s unique fascination with power always motivates him to exact retribution. He has killed people who have threatened to expose him and his nefarious activities. His victims already count Peter Russo during Season 1 and Zoe Barnes during Season 2. And if reports are on target, the President may actually plot another murder for Season 4.
There were actually insinuations that Frank may eventually plot to kill his Chief of Staff Doug Stamper because the latter just knows plenty about him.
Popsugar, however, thinks that it is not going to happen as Frank and Doug are going to be a dynamic duo again in the upcoming Season 4. The third season showed Doug finally making his way back to Frank’s good graces in the White House. Frank is far more efficient with Doug Stamper by his side.
New rivals
As expected in the upcoming Season 4 of “House of Cards,” the marriage of Frank and Claire will still be on the rocks. Series creator Beau Willimon says that a lot of the strength of the show is based on the marriage of Frank and Claire. He added that after exploring the relationship of the couple, it became inevitable for them to travel the emotional terrain.
There are also reports saying that the Underwoods will have new rivals come Season 4. The rivals are said to be a power couple as well and that they will be the younger version of the Underwoods and possibly British. Faced with new rivals, this might actually force Frank and Claire to get back together and fight a common enemy.
Even rumors develop their own twist and that seems to be the case with previous speculations regarding the main plotline for the upcoming fourth season of “House of Cards” on Netflix early next year.
