The popularity of actor Stephen Amell appears to be surging these past few months. After appearing for a match at the WWE Summer Slam 2015 on August 23, he is set to reprise his lead role as Oliver Queen a.k.a. Arrow / Green Arrow in the fourth season of the TV series “Arrow” on The CW on October 7.
Apparently, he just went into movies as well as he actually has a part in the upcoming sequel to the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie titled “Half-Shell.”
Amell will be introduced in the sequel to the 2014 surprise hit as Casey Jones, but there are still no details on his specific role for the movie.
He will be joining returning stars to the film including Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michaelangelo, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, and Jeremy Howard as Donatello, details Venture Capital Post.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half-Shell” is a follow-up to 2014’s film to be released on June 3, 2016. The first film was produced by Nickelodeon Movies and director Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. It grossed a whopping $485 million against a $125 million production budget and generally negative reviews.
Not the only wrestler in the film
But Stephen Amell will not be the only wrestler that will appear in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” because a real pro wrestler will be part of the movie too.
Apparently, WWE superstar Stephen ‘Sheamus’ Farrelly will also be cast to play the role of Rocksteady, one of the two mutant henchmen of Foot Clan leader Shredder.
The Irish wrestler actually beat another former WWE wrestler who is now with the UFC, Phillip Jack ‘Phil” Brookes, better known as CM Punk in the wrestling circles, to the role.
CM Punk disclosed that he auditioned for the role of Rocksteady in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” but the role eventually went to Sheamus. He said that he assumed that the production team was looking for a big guy so they decided to give it to the bigger dude. He said that it makes sense since the production team was looking for two big muscle bouncer types and Sheamus certainly fits the role to a T.
Gary Anthony Williams will play the other Shredder mutant henchman known as Bebop. Both Rocksteady and Bebop are character villains in the 1997 TV cartoon series as well as in the “Archie TMNT Adventures” comics so it is just natural that the characters become part of Dave Green’s live-action adaptation of the popular children’s cartoon show.
Post-production phase
Reports have it that filming for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” is now through and that the movie is now on its post-production phase. Principal photography has likewise been completed recently.
Post-production may also include the integration of some CGI scenes to the movie, which the first film had plenty of.
It is expected that ‘Turtle Time’ will start chugging along beneath the surface of the New York City sewers soon, notes Comicbook.com
Both Director Jonathan Liebesman and Megan Fox were rumored to be coming to the next “Transformers” movie but instead of responding to rumors, the two just preoccupied themselves with the filming of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” in New York City.
Filming began late in March and since production stayed true to its schedules, it was finally completed before the end of August.
Late in June, while filming the movie in New York City, Megan Fox showed off her fit figure while braving the rain after a day of filming. Earlier that day, Megan was spotted filming a car scene for the movie.
