Season 2 of the American post-apocalyptic TV drama series “The Last Ship” on TNT heads to its penultimate 12th episode on August 30 before it winds up with its season finale on September 6 with the inevitable showdown between Captain Tom Chandler, played by Eric Dane, and the Ramseys looming in the horizon.
The upcoming episode titled “Cry Havoc” would see that the USS Nathan James will be caught in a trap laid out by the Immunes. The ship will be wedged in between an avenging submarine and a civilian blockade set up by Ramsey and his allies, details Christian Today.
Capt. Chandler knows that the only way out of the trap is for him and his team of soldiers to fight their way through so he decided to send Dr. Rachel Scott, played by Rhona Mitra, off the ship along with the cure to the virus. He entrusts the care of Dr. Scott to XO Mike Slattery, played by Adam Baldwin, to protect her and the antidote at all cost because they all worked hard for it.
Showing some sense to the President
During the 11th episode of “The Last Ship” titled “Valkyrie,” Capt. Chandler brought President Michener, played by Mark Moses, onboard the USS Nathan James in order to undo the brainwashing made on him by the Immunes.
The leader attempted to make the President see some sense by showing him videos and telling him the truth about the Immunes. While Michener could not cope up with the influx of information that he was being told and tried committing suicide as a way out, Chandler was able to avert his plans and saved him.
When he finally came to his senses, President Michener realized that the crew of USS Nathan James was not the enemy and he decided to sit down and talk with Chandler and Dr. Scott. It was there that he learned that the Immunes were actually the ones trying to spread the virus to children.
Implicating the Navy with the disaster
Also during the 11th episode of “The Last Ship,” Sean Ramsey, played by Brian F. O’Byrne, broadcasts a message implicating the Navy in a devastating disaster that rocked the American soul.
Given that premise, it became more imperative for Chandler to infiltrate the network of the Immunes and regain the trust of the American people. They also had to prove that they were innocent by finding evidence that the destruction was the work of the enemy and not the US Navy.
As they went out to clear the name of the Navy, the USS Nathan James locates the source of the Immune’s signal, which is a mysterious oil platform in the middle of the ocean. Capt. Chandler and his crew then set out to find it.
When his team arrived at the oil platform, they were met by gunshots from a group of enemies whom they were not able to identify right away. Eventually, they have come to learn that their opponents were allies of Ramsey’ who agreed on the antagonist’s plan to infect the entire human race with the virus.
Chandler and his team were able to eventually nab the mastermind behind the enemy’s communications network. However, shortly thereafter, it was then that they find themselves and the USS Nathan James unable to flee and move as they fell right into the middle of the trap laid out by the Immunes.
