Robert Downey Jr. is the world’s highest paid actor in the Forbes list for the period covering June 2014 to June 2015 with earnings of $80 million.
The actor earned it in just one movie during the period, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” from Marvel Studios and he was paid that huge amount of salary even though it is not even his solo film, as there were plenty of stars and superheroes in it.
Thus, Robert Downey Jr. has maintained the lofty title for three consecutive years already after topping the same list last year with income of $50 million for “Iron Man 3” shown in the second half of 2013, and “Marvel’s Avengers” shown in 2012.
While there have been reports in the past that Marvel Studios and Robert Downey Jr. are in stalemate negotiations over his salary for “Iron Man 4,” it is now clear that money is not an issue with the producers as they can surely pay the actor an amount commensurate to his services.
According to The Bitbag, Robert Downey Jr. will be paid $40 million for appearing in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” which will hit theaters on May 6, 2016, or about one year after the release of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in May this year.
That being said, it is now clear that RDJ will be able to command a salary of over $80 million by the time an “Iron Man 4” movie is greenlit for production which will most happen in 2018 for eventual release to theaters on 2019.
In fact, given his earnings over the last few years, the actor is now so rich that he is gradually becoming his persona in “Iron Man” movies, philanthropist billionaire Tony Stark.
Good as go
Despite initial skepticisms about “Iron Man 4” which is anchored primarily on money matters, it becomes clear now that the movie is good as go, confirming the pronouncement of “Iron Man 3” Director Shane Black that the fourth installment to the franchise would really materialize, notes the Australian Network News.
So while fans are still waiting for “Iron Man 4,” the actor is still very busy playing his alter ego and donning the iron suit for the next Marvel blockbuster movie, “Captain America: Civil War.”
While the movie is definitely about Captain America and Steve Rogers, and of course Chris Evans, Marvel fans are actually filled with excitement over the prospect of Captain America and Iron Man going head-to-head in the movie, which shall become one, if not the film’s best highlight.
Apparently, the Marvel’s Avengers would be divided on the issue of the Superhero Registration Act. Tony Stark is all open to the idea of superheroes disclosing their identities in public, the way he as Iron Man is doing while Steve Rogers is opposed to the idea.
Sure to happen
In a recent interview, Director Shane Black was quoted as saying that Robert Downey Jr. would be back for another “Iron Man” movie and that he was quite sure of it.
The confirmation from the “Iron Man 3” director comes amid reports that a younger actor who was reported to be Ty Simpkins will replace Robert Downey Jr. as the main protagonist for “Iron Man 4.”
Ty Simpkins played the role of Harley Keener in “Iron Man 3” and there were previous reports from as early as late last year that his character will take over the iron suit from Tony Stark, who will be retiring from his superhero work, or so the previous speculations say.
“Iron Man 4” will likely be released by Marvel Studios come the phase 3 of the Marvel cinematic universe which is around 2019 or after the showing of the second part of “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Gosh, I can’t wait for Iron Man 4! I can’t believe Robert Downey jr. is going to be paid more than 80 million dollars to star in Iron Man 4. That’s outrageous. Harley Keener is never going to replace Tony Stark as Iron Man. Tony Stark is the only Iron Man! Robert Downey jr. IS Tony Stark. Robert Downey is probably going to be as rich as his character, Tony Stark, when Iron Man 4 begins or finishes production.
I sure can’t wait to see Iron Man (Robert Downey jr.) face the real Mandarin in Iron Man 4, the final Iron Man movie.
