The third season of “Reign” should come out by the end of this year – in fact, the latest reports claimed that it would be ready by the fall season, so it should be quite close already. And it shouldn’t really come as a big surprise to anyone that the show has been surrounded by lots of rumors, with the numbers growing the closer we’ve been getting to its release. It’s not entirely clear what’s about to happen in the new episodes, but fans have been speculating on several particular plot points.
But the show’s producers apparently don’t want the speculations to run too wildly, which is why they have decided to step forward with some clarifications regarding the upcoming episodes. For one thing, they’ve decided to shed some light on the situation with Nostradamus, as many fans have been expecting to see him returning at some point in the new season.
According to Laurie McCarthy, we will indeed see the character returning, but there might be some surprises about his appearance, and fans might find the whole situation a bit unusual. Nostradamus will make some brief appearances here and there, but there will still be a lot of tension between him and Catherine, and he definitely doesn’t want to get back to his previous position with regards to her.
We also don’t know the exact details of how the character is going to appear and in which episodes, but we expect that the writers have given him a good spread across the season in order to please those fans that have been craving to see him back.
That’s not all though. From what we’re hearing so far, this season will be significantly more different than the previous ones, and the show’s producers are apparently going to try some interesting experiments to spice things up. That was pretty much to be expected, as some viewers have been commenting recently about the generally monotonous pace of the last episodes.
Still, some have also been hopeful that the changes aren’t going to come on too drastically, as the show has been enjoying a relatively good balance of drama between most of its characters for the majority of the first season’s episodes as well as a good part of the second. If the producers decide to shake things up significantly in all directions, this could have some questionable repercussions for the overall setting of the show, especially for fans who’ve grown used to the kind of feeling that the episodes had going.
But in the end, according to the producers, the show must “evolve” and keep moving forward, and the best way to do that is obviously by taking risks and avoiding keeping things the same for too long. Season 3 has a true potential to turn this show into something even better than what it currently is, and it can help bring even more people to “Reign” if the producers play their cards right. But they should not do that at the cost of alienating their old-time fans either.
Queen Elizabeth will be joining the show as well, and that will have a significant impact on the way its world is portrayed. The episodes that feature her have been described as “exciting”, but let’s not forget that this does not necessarily need to have positive implications for what’s about to happen. And that’s actually what’s been worrying fans so much for the most part.
