The new season of “Supernatural” is almost here – on October 7, fans will see their favorite characters returning to the screen to fight even more paranormal beasts and apparitions, and delve deeper into the mysteries that surround them on a practically daily basis. A lot will happen in the new season, according to current previews, and among other things, we’re going to see a new enemy to our favorite characters. They will have to pool their efforts together to come up against a major threat, and the new season will be quite tense as a whole.
According to reports, a new female antagonist will be introduced right from the start with a very dramatic season premiere. She’ll be named Amara and will be a relatively young woman with some scary capabilities, using her natural attractiveness to lure her victims into her trap. She’s apparently one of the side effects of the Darkness that we saw in the finale of season 10.
That event will likely keep echoing through the season for quite some time too, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the writers have even more nasty tricks hidden up their sleeve awaiting the two characters. Hopefully they don’t plan on tormenting them too much, but from the sounds of it, this season might actually ramp up the dramatic moments even more.
On the other hand, there will be some touching moments here and there thrown in for good measure, and fans definitely aren’t going to be left without some endearing points in the story. For example, the brothers will be shown getting closer in this season, which would be a nice change from the ugly moments in season 10 where their relationship became incredibly strained.
While this was a much-needed development for both of their characters, it was also a point in the story that annoyed some fans and many claimed that the writers had gone too far with the murder attempt. Now, fans want to see some more lighthearted action between the two brothers, and thankfully the producers are reportedly planning to do just that. Dean and Sam might even share some of their deepest moments together during this season, if some rumors are true.
Hopefully, this is a trend that will continue in the show’s future and the writers don’t plan on reverting back to the characters’ previous style of messing with each other. More likely than not, the negativity between them was the actual passing phase, and as we said above, it could have been a technique used to develop their characters further and flesh them out a bit more.
We don’t know how much more room for such developments the writers have after the show has been running for 10 seasons though – with an eleventh one coming up too. The production’s future is a bit unclear right now, as even though season 11 is coming for a fact, anything beyond that is under a major question mark at the moment.
The show may or may not be expanded beyond that, and it all depends on how well it performs in the eyes of the network executives, according to its own producers. Because of this, fans have been hoping that this season is really going to raise the bar for production quality and try to attract even more people to the series. Not that it lacks fans right now, but having even more eyes focused on it definitely wouldn’t hurt in terms of motivating the producers and everyone else involved.
