Canadian singing sensation Shawn Mendes, whose popularity started doing cover music and posting it on Vine and YouTube, came up with his latest cover that had fans of the popular British-Irish boy band One Direction convinced how good he is as an acoustic singer.
Mendes gave a memorable rendition of “Drag Me Down,” the latest single of One Direction, which had many of his 3.7 million Twitter followers literally screaming with delight, notes E! News.
The 17-year-old Canadian was wearing a black button-down and held his signature guitar for his latest cover video. Just a few hours after posting his new cover, #ShawnNewCover began to trend on Twitter as fans started putting the hot new track on repeat.
Shawn Mendes started getting the attention of the social media public with his viral cover videos on Vine. Subsequently, he started covering popular artists on YouTube before getting national radio airplay for hit singles like “Life of the Party,” and “Stitches.”
Canadian pop superstar Taylor Swift was among the first to notice Shawn Mendes’ talent and charisma that she decided to take him in and had him perform in her shows to promote her latest album “1989” this summer.
A humble person
Despite his surging popularity and plenty of accolades from fans, Shawn Mendez remains humble as ever. He is not the type who boasts of his newfound success and popularity and is just grateful to have been given the opportunity to do what he loves – singing.
In his recent tweet, he said that looking back to his videos a year ago, he felt that he looked like the biggest dork. He said that he will find it cool that if he will still be doing music 10 years from now and watch the videos after.
Shawn then posted that he will be doing music 10 years from now because he has no back up plan. He said that he does not want to do anything other than music anyway.

Meanwhile, Louis Tomlinson, one of the members of One Direction, is going to be a father early next year when his girlfriend Briana Jungwirth gives birth.
Reports have it that Briana does not want to bring their baby into this world out of wedlock so she is now putting pressure on the 23-year-old Tomlinson to propose and marry her soon.
Accordingly, Briana told Louis that she wants a ring on her finger before she gives birth to their child. She’s pressuring the One Direction member to make a commitment. After the departure from the group of Zayn Malik in March this year, Modest Management, One Direction’s management company, has come up with an entirely fresh profile, description, and bio for the group on its website indicating that the band is officially composed of four members.
One Direction is composed of members Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, which is now the first sentence on the fresh new profile for the boy band, removing entirely any description on Zayn Malik that was previously posted on the same website.
The rebranding made by the management company of One Direction only indicates that the group will continue with its commitments even if it has already lost one member.
While the departure of Zayn Malik has upset millions of fans of the British boy band, the other members are still quite supportive of their former bandmate’s decision and are not faulting him at all.
They are likewise confident that they can continue even if they have already lost one member because they are a talented bunch.
