Last season, Elijah and Klaus’ relationship made a turn for the worse as Klaus tormented his own family, putting Hayley and the rest of the Crescent wolves under a spell, which ultimately forced Rebekah to kill Elijah and herself, all of which Klaus did to put an end to Dahlia’ evil ways.
While the Original vampire hybrid was successful, it did deeply strain his relationship with his siblings especially Elijah. Although there’s a huge chance that the duo will be mending fences in Season 3, but not that easily. Judging by the set pictures shared by Daniel Gillies and Joseph Morgan themselves, the brothers look like they are teaming up together to fight the new threats coming to New Orleans.
Speaking to The Wrap, Gillies hinted that the damaged relationship between the Mikaelson brothers will set off a series of developments for “The Originals.” Gillies describes Elijah’s relationship with Klaus as an alliance on the last thread of thrust.
Meanwhile, executive producer Michael Narducci revealed some points on the two saying that Elijah is only sticking around because Hayley made a request. Hayley asked him to stick around because she doesn’t want Hope to be alone with her own father, Klaus.
Season 3 will also find Elijah in a very difficult position as he will be doing his best to look over Hope, but has to live with someone he loathes. Narducci teases that the third season will begin six months after the events of the Season 2 finale, but Elijah still cannot find any ounce of forgiveness for his brother. Klaus don’t seem that apologetic either.
During last month’s ComicCon 2015, Narducci also revealed that Season 3 will head in a different direction and focus on the Mikaelson’s sire line. Narducci says the Mikaelsons have been around for more than 1,000 years and they have turned quite a number of people into vampires.
In the supernatural world of “The Originals” and its parent series “The Vampire Diaries,” it is a known fact that if an Original vampire dies, its entire sire line will die immediately as well. This was proven when Finn and Kol died in “The Vampire Diaries.” The latest season will focus on the sired vampires of Rebekah, Elijah, and Klaus and their thoughts about the existence of the Original family. But it looks like it won’t be a happy reunion as their newly found offspring will seek revenge on them.
With this premise, expect plenty of new faces to show up in New Orleans when Season 3 of the hit The CW show comes back in October. It was earlier announced that Andrew Lees was cast to play Lucien, one of the vampires in Klaus’ sire line. Lucien will make his first appearance in the season premiere.
Oliver Ackland has also been cast as Tristan, a charming vampire who has a long and complicated history with the Mikaelsons. As per Venture Capital Post, viewers will get to see some flashback with the Mikaelsons and Tristan and this seems to be true as actor Nathaniel Buzolic, who plays Kol Mikaelson, gets candid on TV Line about seeing more of him in Season 3 as there will be a lot of flashback scenes with his brothers. Ackland’s character will begin his recurring role starting the second episode.
Furthermore, Australian actress Rebecca Breed will also be joining the series as Aurora. Breed’s character is described as beautiful and free-spirited, but she can be dangerous and extremely violent. Just like Lucien, fans will meet Aurora in the Season 3 premiere.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Lawrence Kao of “The Walking Dead” will also be heading to New Orleans as Van, a witch who had no say when it came to politics concerning covens although his meeting with the Originals might change his view.
