Fan-favorite character Mr. Meeseeks on the American adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” on the Cartoon Network appeared on several cameo appearances during the second episode of the show’s Season 2 that was aired on August 2.
Viewers were treated to several cameos of the creature that could be summoned by activating the Meeseeks Box. It was seen in episode 2 titled “Mortynight Run” that Mr. Meeseeks could be seen hanging out in the background while Rick and Morty were visiting the Blips and Chitz galactic arcade, details Christian Today.
It can be remembered that Mr. Meeseeks first appeared on the show of Season 1 when Rick gifted the family with a Meeseeks Box. The creature appears suddenly but vanishes once a particular task was completed. But because of Jerry’s poor performance at golf, it stayed around much longer.
Mr. Meeseeks came out again on episode 2 and hang around to help someone achieve a high score on an arcade game before it disappeared.
No further appearance
Despite being a fan-favorite on “Rick and Morty,” Mr. Meeseeks will not be making another cameo appearance in subsequent episodes of the TV series.
Show co-creator Justin Roiland said that the creature would not be making a big comeback anytime soon, particularly in Season 2.
Roiland admitted however that they did not realize how popular the character was going to be, so he is not really sure how the lack or absence of Mr. Meeseeks in “Rick and Morty” is going to affect the series. But he explained that they did not think of doing a story or anything at all about the character during the second season other than subtle and inconsequential cameos.
Hypnotic song
Other than Mr. Meeseeks, another thing that caught fan and viewer fancy during the second episode of the Season 2 of “Rick and Morty” was the hypnotic song “Goodbye Moonmen.”
The song, deployed by a manipulative and gaseous alien named Fart, is divided into several long snippets during episode 2.
According to iDigital Times, the whole song can now be downloaded, courtesy of Williams Street Records. “Goodbye Moonmen” is sung by Jemaine Clement, who also made a guest voice appearance on “Rick and Morty” Season 2 as Fart.
Other than playing the fun character Fart, Clement’s real contribution to the episode is his dead-on take of David Bowie that makes “Goodbye Moonmen” a catchy slice of 80s music.
Meanwhile, co-executive producer and writer Dan Harmon expressed his dismay over the recent leaks of the show’s first, second, and third episodes on torrent sites even before they were aired on the Cartoon Network.
He said that it’s just frustrating because they would like people to see that the episodes are finished, with the fixed audio and the video all color-corrected.
The first two episodes of Season 2 of “Rick and Morty” already came out before the show’s premiere on July 26. Episode 3 of Season 2 titled “Auto Erotic Assimilation” also came out in torrent sites one day after the premiere of the series.
It is not clear how much content does the culprit or culprits have on the show, but it is almost sure the show producers are looking for ways to plug the seeming loophole in the production.
It would have been typical if “Rick and Morty” co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland would feel disappointed over the leaks of the first three episodes of the Season 2 of the series.
But Justin Roiland has a different view of the whole thing. In a recent interview after the episode 3 of Season 2 was leaked, Roiland said that he does not think that fans or non-fans of the show who end up watching the leaked episodes are villainous.
