‘GTA 6’ to Introduce a Feature That Would Let Gamers Choose a Cop Character Instead of a Bad Guy

There have been a lot of rumors about the next installment to the open world action-adventure “Grand Theft Auto” video game franchise even though it is still years away from being released.

The consensus of the speculations all points to “GTA 6” coming out anytime between 2018 and 2020. Also going around plenty on the rumor mills are reports that celebrity couple Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes will be voice acting the new lead roles in the game.

According to Christian Today, Gosling’s participation to “GTA 6” will usher the developer’s plan to meld the “GTA” series with the company’s other mega-successful video game franchise “Red Dead Redemption.”

The actor’s character shall reportedly play a descendant of John Marston, the protagonist in “Red Dead Redemption.” Gosling’s character will be based on his role in the 2011 crime movie drama called “Drive” where he showed his acting prowess as a criminal.

Giving players a choice to be good

However, one of the interesting rumors going around these days is that game developer Rockstar Games will introduce a novel feature to “GTA 6” that would enable gamers to choose a cop character instead of being one of the bad guys, which has always been the case for players of the game, notes the Ecumenical News.

While the GTA franchise is one of the most, if not the most, successful video game in history, many are still shying away from it because players take on the role of bad guys in the game.

With a new feature that would allow gamers to be on the side of the good guys this time, “GTA 6” would surely appeal to the pacifist among players. It would also lessen the rejection of the game in some countries as well.

It can be recalled that early this year, a major retail store in Australia has banned on its store shelves “GTA 5” after acting on the petition of a major socio-civic group who believed that the video game was just too violent and promotes the work of criminals.

There are also reports saying that “GTA 6” will also be bringing back the popular six star wanted levels that were last seen as a feature of the “GTA 4” and was removed on “GTA 5.”

All these are mere speculations at this time and until Rockstar Games comes out with an announcement or a statement to either confirm or deny these reports, everything should be taken with a fine grain of salt.

Dividing the release date rumors in half

Another interesting rumor on the release date of “GTA 6” is the one where the speculated 2018 and 2020 timeline of roll out were put together in a different but connected context.

The speculation seems to have been broken down into half as latest reports now seem to indicate that the 2018 release date of “Grand Theft Auto 6” is for the next generation gaming consoles, most notably the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

The surprising part of the other half of those new rumors is that that it is the PC version of “GTA 6” that shall come out in 2020 or two years after its release on the gaming platforms.

Game developer Rockstar Games has been known to delay the release of its video games as it works on providing to quality rather than giving in to gamer clamor, but these latest rumors about the PC version of “GTA 6” being released two years after the console versions are released are just way off the charts. It’s even way off the chart of Rockstar Games, to say the least.

When the “Grand Theft Auto 5” was released in October last year on the next generation gaming consoles, the PC version came six months later. But it was well worth the wait for PC gamers as “GTA 5” came out splendid, throwing praises to Rockstar in what they claimed as the best video game ever.
