2016 Chevrolet Camaro’s More Aggressive and Meaner Variant Already in the Works

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be made available for pre-ordering starting this month or next month at the latest before General Motors officially rolls it out to the US retail market early next year.

The Autoblog cited that Chevrolet engineers are now starting to focus on the development of the next ZL1 version of the muscle car.

A camouflaged test version of the car has recently been spotted in Detroit, but the concealment was not enough to hide some of the model’s more obvious exterior refinements and performance tweaks.

The new variant of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro has a much more aggressive front fascia with bigger air inlets. The air inlets are obviously meant to manage the flow of air around the engine because the hood also has a fairly large extractor as well.

The lower side sills and orientation of the meaner Camaro indicate blistered fenders in the back to cover wider rubber. The larger wing further suggests the need to keep things planted on the road.

While there are no exact details yet on what type of engine the ZL1 will make use, it is expected that GM will stick with the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that will make it a cut above all the other muscle cars when it finally comes out in the market in the near future.

The two variants of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Based on the order guide released last month by GM, the two main variants of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro are the LT and the SS. The main difference between the two models is the engine layout.

The Day Herald actually summarized the basic features of the two trim levels of the 2016 Camaro. Both the SS and LT models come in two variants, which GM calls as 1 and 2, with 1 being the base model and 2 is the high-end version.

The American car manufacturer has also maintained the 2.0-liter engine, which is capable of displacing 275 brake horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, which would enable it to have a fuel efficiency of 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

The new 3.6-liter V6 engine has been introduced that is capable of exuding 335 brake horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, which offer greater performance. The high-end variants meanwhile feature V8 engines that are capable of bringing out 455 brake horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque.

All the engine variants are complemented by either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission system which greatly ensure smooth performance across the entire RPM range.

Standing out from its predecessors

While GM has yet to announce or reveal any details about the pricing of the upcoming vehicle, it has already revealed the key details and features of all the four trim levels of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro with the recently released order guide.

The guide indicated a surprise trim level option which is the blacked-out bowtie, which the company has made available only in the current Chevrolet Silverado Midnight Edition. The variant will surely make the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro stand out from its predecessors.

Another new option is the gold illuminated front bowtie which will be the first among Chevrolet’s lines of vehicles.

Based on the order guide, the four different variants of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will feature powerful engines, wireless charging for mobile devices, adaptive suspension, and many more to make the muscle car hit the ground running.

When the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro comes out in the US market later this year, it is expected that GM will cut down to size the advantage of the Ford Mustang in terms of number of muscle cars registered and now out in the streets in America.
